Late 2009 was a bummer; I had only recently started investing my earholes heavily in BN music at the time, and was annoyed at missing out the hype/confusion/participation of Daisy's release. Just got into them a tad too late. Ironic; I will NEVER forget thinking "They'll pump out another album in two years, it'll be fine."

There is still pure, genuine fun in the anticipation of driving to your music store, walking through the doors all hyped up and ready to purchase, the stroll back to your car before popping it into the CD player, that moment of cathartic relief when the album starts to play.

...It's an odd feeling, having never picked up a Brand New album on a scheduled release day.

If I was in Zack's position I'd be meme'ing all the time to mess with people, so I don't blame him lmao

I remember thinking when Daisy came out, that I didn't like that the band was getting into an "every 3 years trend" instead of the standard "every two" a lot of bands do.

Oof.

 

This band feels like an oof to me right now.

 

An amazing feat, almost unable to be fathomed. That long and yet still relevant. It's almost as bad as Tien claiming he could see their parachutes when there clearly weren't any. I hope we get something new soon but Brand New hasn't been very reliable, like Krillin.

It's crazy how relevant they still are after this long of a whatever-you-want-to-call-it. Truly impressive. They're doing something right

Brand New is the only band where I find myself saying "there's no way they're announcing something."

 

Appropriately so.

Even if they do announce something, expect nothing.

Even when you're actually listening to it, assume it's Republic of Wolves again.

Even when it has been out for a few years to polarizing opinions, remember the Brand New actually never existed.

 

Not only are they still relevant, I'd say they're the biggest they've ever been. This last tour was probably their biggest U.S. tour they've ever done and the two summers before that they were consistently playing 5-7K-sized venues.

I remember seeing them in 2007 & 2009 & 2011 in venues that were 1-2K big...if that.

 

If it's true that they scrapped most of what they had for LP5 I'd love to see the tracks make their way to us someday (a la Conventional Weapons)

 

With Brand New, that'll never happen. That's like hoping an earthling will go super Saiyan
