Finally got a chance to listen to these. Goddamn. Missing You has a whole new life, 1996 sounds better than ever, and Brother's Song may have just become one of my favorite BN songs.

According to Google Play Music, the release date for 3DR was May 13, 2016. Wonder if that was a mistake or if the band has had it on there for that long, just not publicly.

 

Man the NIN vibes on Noro always seem more apparent in the live videos.

 

I hope they eventually do like a 2-cd set of this - disc 1: the original demos, disc 2: all the reworked versions. That'd look real nice on the shelf :)

 

I'd love to just see a huge box set of all albums and all demos (both released and those never even publicly heard before) titled Brand New 2000-2018. Then I could appreciate that as an album title!

 

I like singing the song 867-5309 at 4:25 into the reworked Missing You.

I posit that:

"You'll get it when it's finished."

is not referring to getting the album "when it's finished"

but rather that we will "get it"

as in, we will understand all the teasing when all is said and done.

If they're "Never Finished" though, we will never get it.

Missing You is undoubtedly better. Sheesh that song is on another level. I'm still so surprised when the volume doesn't just blow my ears out once Jesse first starts singing, "Until I awake."

 

there will always be nostalgic value attached to those originals.. but come on that vocal performance on 1996 is TOP NOTCH

 

Also, why the heck can't I buy the vinyl yet?

 

not sure lol, they were selling them at the show.. may pick it up on Saturday we will see. just spent 6 bucks on bandcamp for these bad boys.

 

I do wish it had the yell of "I KNOW I DESERVE WORSE BUT IT TERRIFIES ME AND I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!" that he does in the recent live version.

 

I couldn't justify the $6 knowing I'm about to spend $12 plus shipping on the vinyl, right after my wife and I have a good talk about how much I'm spending on vinyl spoiler, it's a lot.

 

I hope they put it up at the same time as that Mene/Out of Range release that was put up on Banquet the other day.

 

My wife and I haven't had that talk yet, but she has started making comments about "more records" and "more vinyl".

I justify it by pointing out that I loved going through and looking at/playing my parents old vinyl when I was a kid and I hope to some day be able to pass that along to our twins. It's for the kids!!!

 

Yea I've really calmed down on my vinyl purchases.. It's a shame but it just gets really expensive after a while.. I am glad I got these songs in apple lossless though

 

Heh, I was thinking about buying the Swiss Army Man soundtrack on vinyl yesterday, and my girlfriend goes "No, you don't need more vinyl." That was all I needed to hear to click purchase.
