OMG I remember this dude. This guy had a helmet with a camera attached on top. The funny thing is the sound and image quality is actually pretty decent but the pov aspect is def a little much at times. Too funny I totally remember seeing that guy in the pit with that thing on and now it's on youtube courtesy of Pit Master HD lol

Edit: @redwing91007 did you see him too?

  2. I actually think I have these ... and I think a signed TDAG poster in some bin somewhere.

Haha, I just think like dedicating your life to needing to always know when or where BN information comes out is a little much! Like, buy the album, totally ... but the second it's out? Like ... I dunno, that's not me. I don't even care what color vinyl I get if it sounds good. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Bad music fan.

  3. I think I wouldve related more when TDAG was super limited on vinyl. but then stickergate happened and realized that even if I had paid $500 for a first edition pressing of that record, it wouldnt have been able to live up to the hype.

tldr; just get the black heavyweight vinyl

I think the Daisy pre-order package was actually pretty good well the one I choose anyways. Tshirt which i still wear to this day, stickers, patch, cd. I'd be happy with something similar except getting the album on vinyl instead.

I have nearly 200 signed CD covers, this being one of them, half are from going to the artists at shows an half are from pre-orders like this. It's fun to collect things, and I collect(ed) signed CD booklets

Even with their shenanigans (or lack of anything ha) over the years, I still am very into this band. It's fun to think that they have something new and I can't wait to see them again in a month. At the same time, I also find plenty of time to listen and enjoy a ton of other music and podcasts. Also, their stuff sells out so quickly. Like @irthesteve says, it can be fun to collect.

Yes that it's way more exciting at a show, but no that it's a shitty pre-order

It's the Internet - I think it's pretty apparent I'm exaggerating when I say I'm paranoid. I'm 'paranoid' about everything. Deadlines, avoiding conflict, making sure I've got the correct change for the bus so I don't end up embarrassing myself fumbling about when people are waiting behind me... I mean come on, this is a band who's tickets sell out in seconds. At least here in the UK. I never got the option to buy tickets on that intimate tour, despite being on that page for hours before the release. Thankfully a mate did.
I've paid almost hundreds of pounds at a time for coloured Brand New vinyl. They're few and far between now - forgive me for being excited that I'll finally get the chance to maybe get something special for a fair price. Even being aware of the release is exciting for me. Despite being a huge fan I somehow missed every other release.
I do worry about it but as I've previously said, it doesn't have a negative effect on my life. Again, I'm aware I can come across as this annoying obsessive but I certainly don't believe me being passionate about it and excited about collecting rare/limited stuff is a bit much.
I'll happily cool my contributions here if it bothers you that much, but fuck man, comments like that deterred me from the Reddit sub. You might not get as worked up about things and be this laid back, chilled person about it...but I'm not.
Don't be mene. (I'll never pronounce it correctly)

because brand new are famously known for their love of hanging round before/after shows to meet fans and sign stuff.
im not into collecting or anything but i dont understand why people are pretending only brand new fans are obsessive about first pressings etc. people like having cool stuff from their favourite bands, big deal.

Spending hours on a site for tickets IS a negative impact on your life haha

Do you though. Don't change for me. It's just a tad odd. But if you are content with it, fuck what I have to say.

I'd argue one morning of being up a couple hours earlier than normal for a night that would mean a hell of a lot to me isn't exactly that negative but sure thing :')

Except my friend did the same and did...look, at the end of the day I'm done with this petty-ass back and forth you seem to insist on having. I feel fine, as you said: you do you. Let me be me and move on.

Not the point at all. Also, sitting on a website isn't risking anything.

Sorry we're not all music insiders like you Jason!!1!!!1!

But seriously, I can agree on not trying to buy a new (physical) album as soon as it's available at this point. I still haven't bought the new Modern Baseball, Thrice, or Hotelier albums (to name a few). To each their own though! I personally just don't have the energy to stress over something coming out that I'll be able to get some version of maybe a day or a week or more later.

I think some people have an intense, gripping attachment to the art that they love and are willing to spend lots of time, money, and energy investing in that art. I don't see a problem with that. In fact, I think it's kind of a beautiful thing. Perhaps it comes off as overzealous or excessive to some, but I don't think one should judge or scrutinize a person because of their attachment to music. I completely understand and can relate to the sort of passion that people are describing in here. Music is a passionate art form, and it makes sense that people will in return be passionate about it.

Let people be excited and energetic, let them talk about how much they are anticipating the new record, and please don't make someone feel uncomfortable because you have a different way of loving something than they do.

    Indeeeeeed I shall!

Thank you. I love hearing and seeing how excited people get over their favourite bands. It means different things to different people, and while some of the folk here are probably tired of Brand New's cryptic dearth of information, I most definitely am not. Brand New inspired me to start playing guitar and now I'm in a band of my own and really enjoying myself. I owe a lot to them. Me being all excited and passionate is my way of showing it I guess.

Yeah man, I totally get where you're coming from. I think it's awesome. Admittedly my passion for BN has dimmed from where it was say, two years ago, but it's still comparatively high, haha. I'm seeing them in 11 days and checking the weather at least once a day already. I just love hearing about people's connection to their favorite bands (or any medium of art).
