I know for a fact Brand New are not millionaires. Some members hold jobs outside the band.

Haha I'll just say they were/are well regarded on absolutepunk/chorus.

Ok so Brand New. At first I was pretty lukewarm on I Am a Nightmare, but after having listened to it about 30ish times now, I can say I'm a big fan.

I haven't read the last 2 pages since the last time I checked in...

but damn it, I'm excited they're playing Play Crack The Sky. I saw it live with Andy Hull in Chicago 10/03/09 at the Aragon. Almost my favorite show ever....and they did not play it in Milwaukee at Summerfest 14 (15? its a blur. My Mom passed 6/1/14 and I can't remember what year I dragged my now husband to that show + KevDev before.)

    can. not. wait.

People really called that a cash grab? I mean sure the band made as much money as they could before being done, good for them! But I feel like they put so much effort in to making it special for the fans!

I sold my iPod touch to a member of Brand New back in 2008 when I was contacted by him off a Craigslist ad. He was extremely down to earth and normal. I won't say who out of respect, but it was one of the 4 members currently in the band.

These guys are not millionaires, but they probably could have been after the success of Deja which went gold. I think one of the reasons we all like them so much and follow them religiously is because they never sold out or made decisions regarding the band purely for financial gain. They honor themselves and the band before the industry or even their fans.

Brand New has done it their way the whole time. And I greatly respect them for it.

I feel like Brand New could be millionaires, but they don't really make business decisions it seems. They kinda just do whatever the fuck and people keep them alive.

I also don't think how much the band (or any band) makes is totally our business, I'm sure they'll be fine financially for the split, I doubt they would send themselves into poverty or anything. haha

  9. Knowing what the band made on this tour. They make more than I do in a year.

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

Dude you already have people searching your net worth, someone's bound to ask how much you make in a year lol.

And by this tour, you mean just the ticket sales for the Canadian tour or the US tour too? I can't even imagine how much they're gonna make on merch sales for the next couple of months.

  11. LOL. Figure all the google people should know. Haha.

  13. Talking about money is weird, like, I dunno, I'm old school, that sort of stuff is private IMO. I can make a living doing what I do (THANKYOUALLYOULOVEABLEBLUEBADGES!!!!!), I know they can too and they're fine financially, isn't that kinda enough?

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

haha totally. I'm just messing with you. I think for me, it's not just Brand New's finances that interest me, but the entire system. We know that it's hard for bands to make it financially unless they're huge (like Blink). I've always been curious how bands such as Motion City Soundtrack or The Wonder Years live. Do they make enough to be homeowners with health insurance and luxury sedans? I find it interesting to think about, especially since I don't really know a lot about how much bands actually make off touring, streaming, etc.

Not that it's totally related but I emailed an artist who has a podcast to ask about the finances of touring in a bus vs a van one time and was actually surprised by the answer. His band is slightly smaller then Brand New and got numbers from his manager to share the cost. I was amazed that for a 6 week tour that renting a bus and paying for the driver the cost was 100k or more. Seems high then made me wonder what their guarantee per show was to be able to afford to do it

Summerfest was 2014. I was there. I remember because i walked away from their set after realizing how bored I was. It was a big/depressing moment for me because I realized how stale their live set was to me at that point. I have not seen them live since, but that will all change come July 5th when they hit Pittsburgh, PA.

KD killed the opening slot before they came on though, so that was cool.

Thanks for clearing that up. Yeah, I haven't seen them since then either. I remember before seeing them in Chicago (first time ever) and being nervous because I'd read on here that they just seemed like they weren't interested in playing at all. Then it was a great show.

My husband isn't a fan of either and hadn't really listened to KD beforehand but thought they put on a great live show. Which they did. Absolutely killed it.

Actually, I may have been wrong, haha.

I was just doing my inventory of Brand New shows that i'lev been to. It may have been 2014. They played 2014 & 2015. I saw them both years, and i walked away in 2015.
