The more I listen to this record, the more I just can't imagine these songs randomly in a setlist. I'd love to see them do this record front to back

Man this album is bleak. I could only get through about 5 tracks. Just not my thing anymore, I guess.

Yeah its so bittersweet for sure. And with Sci Fi they have firmly cemented their place as one of my favorite bands forever and always. What a legendary run.

I think my favorite 6 song run is Tommy Gun-Guernica.

That run is legendary to me.

You Won't Know is with ease my least favorite song on TDAG that isn't the god awful closer

Sewing Season and Jesus are prob better than anything individual on here though, not because there aren't amazing songs on here, but those two are absolute career highlight level.

That blows my mind. That lead guitar in the second verse is one of my favorite brand new moments. I guess the vocals are harsh but I feel the they emote so well. One of my favorite brand new songs

You Won't Know is always the highlight of a BN show for me.

Yeah, You Wont Know and Jesus Christ are better than anything on Science Fiction but I feel Science Fiction is more consistent all the way through. Might be their most consistent album to date.

I'm of the camp where Deja through Science Fiction is extremely consistent. Every song has something to take away and either adds to the theme of the record or the deepens the atmosphere. The records have phenomenal sequencing to boot which makes for stellar stretches (first 6 songs of Deja, first half of TDAG and how it perfectly divides into an equally stellar second half, Sink - Noro in Daisy, etc.)

Interesting. To me TDAG is pretty perfect. This album currently has some tracks that I dig, but I think has higher highs spread out through the album. Can't Get It Out, Waste, Desert, No Control, 451 I really enjoy, but right now they feel more like they are "the track before track X" with track X's being Lit Me Up, Could Never Be Heaven, Same Logic, 137, Out Of Mana, In The Water, Batter Up.

That could change any minute though. Took a few listens for Out Of Mana and In The Water to hit me.

I can't wait for the next BN album. Did they write this one over the last 8 years or did they have a period where they were not doing anything?

I can't imagine this took 8 years to write. I feel like after Daisy they did nothing for a while. Who really knows, but based on interviews I would not be surprised if actual writing didn't start until 2013-2014.

    I could be wrong.

I agree with you for the most part. There's not a single song on Deja, TDAG, or Science Fiction that I don't like. There are a few songs I felt could have been slightly better but I still like every song from those albums. However, I still think in terms of overall quality I would still say Science Fiction is the most consistent because the only song I would change is No Control

Great minds think alike. I was saying that this wknd. I'm still hoping maybe we get some other release down the line either a compilation of b-sides and rarities or a live album like the house of blues release by Thrice or even just a simple EP would be cool. Having said that, if Sci Fi ends up being the last we hear from BN i'm totally ok with that too.

This is the final album and I doubt it took 8 years but some of the material used could be from 8 years ago and be revisited material.

If Brand New does put out at LP6 though and it'd as good as Science Fiction, man help us all.
