You are being very optimistic about Kevin Lyman's morality, and the willingness of the general middle-school/high-school population to hold their favorites accountable. I don't entirely blame the kids on this - it's difficult to understand the full implications of some of these things, especially if you're the age of the victim and think "wow I'd love if that person messaged me". That's why it's so important someone like Lyman is setting the example and saying "hey kids I know you liked this band, but they don't have a place on this tour and here's why". But he has continued to prove he is not concerned with setting that example or making sure his tour is safe for all attendees.

Every time one of my friends (we're all in our late 20's) mentions that they're attending Warped, I cringe. I really hope it dies completely soon.

Random (also not very Important) question. I'm being a nerd and making my top 10 album list for 2017 that no one will really care about but me, but my question is this........Do I include Science Fiction or leave it off completely?

If you can detach the reality around the album, I say it is fair to include it in your list.

Unfortunately, I can detach my anger with the band from the music so I have a hard time listening to it.

I feel like, aside from personal use, a year end list is to check out what you might've missed, and give stuff you might've initially skipped over another chance. I don't want SF doing that this year, so I'm leaving it off of mine.

Same, I had my music on shuffle all the other day while I worked and an older Brand New song came on and I was jamming to it in the background, and about half way through, I was like wait a minute and couldnt listen any longer.

Oh no I'm not saying he would EVER cancel it himself or step down of his own accord. He's already shown he doesn't care. I'm just saying that there is the potential for this story to reach a scale where the general public and major publications would be hearing about it, and it's possible that it would hit a point where no one would want to be associated with it at all.

So Warped has 2018, the 25 year anniversary which won't be cross country, then the Warped brand is over, according to their Facebook post. Good riddance.

i was wondering the same thing honestly, i usually begin constructing my list around this time, and, this album is one of 3 that were locked in as #1 contenders. i'm not sure how i am going to proceed quite yet.

haha, Aside from the taking advantage of minors aspect, I'm in my 30's and think Warped is still pretty cool. Look at 2016 for example. I saw NFG, Sum 41, Less Than Jake, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, The Maine, and others in one day. If they get their act together its still a pretty good tour.

Yikes. I'm 32 and haven't been to a Warped Tour since I was 18 or 19 and I felt old back then. Honestly, the past 5 or 6 years, I probably couldn't even name 2 or 3 bands that were on Warped Tour.

i really wanted to go to warped this past summer but it was my buddies wedding day, and this coming year its the day after my wedding when i leave for my honey moon. hating KL aside, it's always been a fun time and i have great memories, and if i could make it one last time i probably would.

If you aren't supporting Brand New anymore because of Lacey's acts, you might want to think twice about supporting Warped Tour in any way as well. There's a reason this is happening now.

yeah I haven't been in 10 years since I was 21. I think I looked at the past 4 years lists and 98% of the bands I didn't know of.
I thought it was fun when I went before, but I don't know if any good bands go on it anymore and the environment sounds like it was not good for a lot of people. I'd probably go if I could get in for free like I used to and knew more than 2 or 3 bands

its big but easy to fix, no bands with pedophiles on the tour anymore. Its been mentioned a million times but never have we seen so much coming out on this subject as in the last few weeks so they will have no choice but to adapt if they want to keep it going.

Kevin Lyman allowed FPS to come play Warped when it was well documented how much of an abuser he was.

Totally agree they handled many things completely wrong, but I think the recent events will lead to change. Thankfully people are finally feeling less afraid to come forward and that has to count for something.

lyman : "I heard you demo/album/whatever you guys are pretty good, you want a spot on the biggest punk tour in the world? just have to check the box that you're not a pedophile right here and you're good to go, don't worry it's on the honor system"

sounds ridiculous because he not only knowingly let bands play on the tour that have a bad history but also we don't know who is bad, any why would anybody come forward when he doesn't believe them or do anything about it.

I wish there was an easy way to see old tweets. If I remember correctly, I got Kevin to admit that may have been a mistake.

I don’t say this to defend him, I more just want to go back and see how he tried to foolishly defend the decision.
