Honestly I don't have the energy to do so since I don't want to listen to any of it at all, but the amount of lines that we interpreted one way that were probably actually about this or could at least be about something similar I'm sure would be staggering. I've already had a few songs pop into my head this weekend and realized exactly that. I also keep thinking of countless ones without trying to that I believed were satirical or biting or metaphorical that were most likely very literal instead.

 

How are you holding up? You have spent so many hours organizing the live archives and working hard on this band as a hobby, I’m sure the last few days have been hard on you.

 

The other members should come out and shut down their fucked up fans.

Talked with my bandmates for about 20 minutes tonight at practice about the situation. We all agreed that even though this really hurts right now, it’s ultimately going to help the music world be a safer place. I hope that’s not naive. I don’t think it is. I really just need to find any way to find a light in the darkness here.

 

Some truly disgusting shit going down on Facebook now: people have started passing around text messages from people who claim to know Nicole slandering her basically painting a picture of someone who ‘wanted attention’ or whatever gross shit.

They are also grabbing screenshots from her Instagram where she shared conversations with other band members and calling her a whore and drug addict.

 

I’m waiting for it. I don’t know what the hold up is unless they’re negotiating a contract for terms of a break-up. Or dealing with promoters who had contracts with them for the final tour.

Regardless, their silence so far is damning in a different way.

 

Mark Schwahn was/is also a huge Brand New fan and of the scene in general. Titled episodes after song titles.

I’ll say it again: if Brand New’s other members want my respect in the future they need to shut this shit down. I know some of the people associated with the band read this thread.

If there’s some other project from those guys in the future we’re all gonna remember how they handled right now.

Agreed. By allowing their fans to do this they are just perpetuating the emotional torture the victims are going through right now. I can barely check my social feeds right now, I can’t even begin to comprehend what Emily and Nicole and the other victims are going through.

 

The lack of statement from anyone but Jesse is concerning at this point. I hope this news came as a huge shock to them but for them to act like they have no place in the discussion and keeping silent just feels off.
