    RIP EmoPunkKid28: 2002-2016 Prestigious

I haven’t listened to this since release week, unfortunately. Definitely need to revisit, though.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

far more into Japanese House and Spanish Love Songs over this one (and probably Menzingers soon enough)

There are standouts on the album, for sure, but it’s tough to do a listen front to back.

Even having seen them twice this year - live show leaves a bit to be desired, too. Time for the boys to go back into hibernation so we can get their (much better) solo work back.

  4. at least this record has given some national shine to Julien and Lucy and hopefully those people check out their much superior solo records as well haha

The live show was great. People just in here saying shit to say shit.

Prior to all the drama with PB, I wished I felt more compelled to return to the LP. Haven’t spun it much in a few months & other releases this year have impressed me way more.

Post the drama, I haven’t even been interested enough to listen to the EP.

The live show is really phenomenal and while watching I couldn't help but think it really should be their main project. I like the album but it's been half boring since day 1 (and even those songs come alive live imo).

In terms of indie records, since this came out, I’ve connected way more with the Wednesday, Ratboys, Squirrel Flower, Al Menne, Feeble Little Horse, and Blondshell albums and in terms of folk records I’ve connected way more with the new Sufjan. So this will probably make my top 20 but idk if it would crack my top 10.

I’m very interested to see what types of venues they play when they go back to touring solo. Phoebe’s going to be in arenas for sure

Julien’s next release is an album with Torres, I’m assuming it will be announced next year after Torres is done touring her already announced album. Torres isn’t a massive artist so I’m not sure what the size of the venues will be if they tour together for the album.

I doubt arenas for Phoebe. I think she'll be doing multi-night residencies at theaters for sure.

You don’t think she can do arenas even though boygenius are? Isn’t she more popular solo than the band?

    Popularity to me feels like

    Phoebe >>>>>> boygenius >>> Julien >> Lucy

I would switch Lucy and Julien but yeah, agreed!

She could definitely do arenas now, the venues she was selling out solo were bigger than theaters, and she's an even bigger deal now,

I imagine she'll do "college" arenas, rather than the NHL/NBA arenas.

I would not be shocked at all if Phoebe is at NBA/NHL arenas next tour. She's basically a strong lead single away

Lucy was definitely a fan favorite at MSG. She’s way easier for the masses to connect with lyrically than Julien because she writes those catchy funny screamable lines.

this EP is fantastic. I genuinely love all 4 songs now. "Voyager" has completely snuck up on me, and "Powers" clicked for me also, and I see it now as the type of story song that tackles subject matter that on paper sounds strange for a song but just absolutely works against all odds through sheer songwriting power, like Josh Ritter's "The Temptation of Adam".

Yes, I noticed that at MSG too! They also mentioned that in the Rolling Stone review of the show if I recall correctly.
