If only Colour Revolt would come back, but it's probably pretty doubtful. The frontman's solo stuff is called El Obo and he released a record in 2020 that's solid. Way more somber/laid back than most of the Colour Revolt stuff though.

Yeah, I do listen to El Obo, but not as much, and should probably give that 2020 album more chances ;D Jon Simmons also had a solo output as Creeks and eventually it came around to a B&C reunion anyway. So I'm not gonna assume "never", same as with that boygenius LP ;u ;d

  4. I got seats in the balcony because standing room was sold out I was hoping to, y'know, sit, so I was a bit dismayed when everyone stood up, I'm getting too old for this shit

Anyway, the show was magical, obviously

Idk if I'm supposed to put this next part in spoilers? it probably comes as no surprise that their setlist was, well, all their songs. I can't remember the order, but they did do the thing where they left the stage and came back for like four more songs, I kinda think it's weird that an encore is just expected now unless they outright tell you there isn't one
I took so many pictures but I was so far idk if they're any good, I'll have to look tomorrow, I'm tired af. Long drive, and in the rain on the way back too, but totally worth it. So glad I got to see them this time rather than at the festival which btw would've been a lot closer but again more expensive and also not really my kind of thing

I don’t have an issue with the people waiting because that happens at a lot of shows (this was the only tweet I could find with this video) but it’s sad to see how people, or I guess these are rabid Phoebe fans, only care about seeing her and barely give Julien/Lucy the time of day. Obviously this isn’t everyone, but I hope the rest of the shows aren’t just fans screeching for Phoebe only. The 2018 shows were so good crowd wise because it felt like everyone cared about all three of them equally.

Also I heard people started camping overnight for the show which is wild. I remember for the 2018 shows my friend was able to get there mid afternoon day of show to wait in line and was the first person there…how times have changed.

i know everyone laments over concert etiquette these days, but especially seeing stuff like this turns me off from going (specifically the hyper-obsessiveness over one particular artist, not the waiting).

The waiting is definitely fine, I’m sure we’ve all done it before for artists we like (at least I have), and it sometimes works out in terms of getting to meet your favorite artists, pictures with them, autographs, etc. but the way these fans only care about one of three artists and go like…feral for her when she walks out is the part of the Phoebe fandom that…can be annoying. I know a lot of them are younger women/teenagers, and there’s a discussion to be had about that demographic getting shit on for just being huge fans of an artist, but there’s a healthy medium between being a fan and…a crazy stan.

I’m not going to fault anyone who went through a pandemic, may have been both culturally and socially stunted as a result, who wants to wait like this and “go feral”. The video didn’t even seem that bad compared to what I’ve seen in person for years now.

There is a much bigger discussion to be had regarding this and how people are reacting. It is multifaceted and not one I think is productive to have on the internet. Over drinks, absolutely.

True fans can go feral, and it’s a deeper discussion to be had than over the internet. It’s just a bit disappointing seeing everyone go crazy for Phoebe but give Julien and Lucy barely the time of day, at least in this instance, especially considering the idea to start boygenius was originally Julien’s idea. Just a product of Phoebe’s newer found fame though!

I mean, I only heard one person scream Phoebe’s name in that video? I don’t really see anything that indicates that those people only care about her. Am I missing something?

If I had to rank weirdness of fanbases, it’d be something along the lines of phoebe/boygenius, blink 182, and the 1975. Some truly unhinged behavior across the board.

We ranking active fanbases? Because FOB was pretty batshit in the past (can't speak about now). Brand New was as well.

Like at least FOB at the height was livejournal and Tumblr. Twitter for a bit. I could not imagine how unhinged it would be now.

Phoebe/1975 is more just unhinged social commentary from the tiktok generation where blink reads like god damn fanfiction depending where you go. Ditto on FOB and BN.

Taylor and BTS can be there at times, but that’s to be expected with such massive fanbases for sure

I don't really see what's wrong with that video. No one did anything I would consider disrespectful.

I mean I don't get the camping thing, but those people are always going to beat me to the show regardless so if they want to wait they can have at it.
