No one knows anything since rage haven’t came out and said anything. And Boston calling isn’t until the end of may. Guess we will know for sure this week since the lineup is coming this week supposedly

We'll see. I'm a little shocked that the BC Twitter has been so quiet. After a post indicating that the line-up is probably coming on Monday, you'd think there would have been more activity. (But I guess we can't expect all festival Twitter accounts to hold the same kind of schedule/patterns that Riot Fest does? Haha.)

The initial Tweet referenced Dave Grohl's birthday, though, which is tomorrow. So there's still hope! Just a bit surprising they haven't dropped a "It's coming on Friday at 10am EST!" tweet yet.

I thought they said it was coming this week - which would be tomorrow.

To be fair, they didn’t say for sure that it was coming. Just that “Dave's birthday isn't the only thing coming along this week.”

Given the time of year, it’s not an unfair assumption. But at this point… Maybe not. They always announce a day ahead that it’s coming and their Twitter has been silent all week.

Well, there goes the hope for an announcement this week. The Twitter silence still feels super strange to me. Kinda wondering if they're hustling to find a replacement for a larger act that dropped out or something.

Anyway. I've been killing time by reading the Inforoo thread, and holy wow are people on there a different breed. People actually want LiveNation or GoldenVoice to purchase Boston Calling and take the reins so it could be run "more professionally."

I'll take a delayed line-up release that has a (relatively) distinct line-up that leans heavier into guitar-based rock and hip-hop than most other festivals out there. The fact that it's independent and kind of its own little "niche" is what makes this fest so interesting to me.

It'd be a major bummer if it just became Coachella Jr.

I'll give them a few more hours but yeah, the overall vibe of the festival has been strange this year. Must be hard to plan everything with COVID so I get it.

I mean, it could be any number of things. Maybe their social media person was just implying that the line-up is "moving along" ( as in, getting prepped) and we all misread it. Maybe Rage is actually cancelling tour dates for one reason or another so that's the hold-up. Maybe some other artist dropped. Who knows.

It just feels super strange for them to be so quiet all week without it leading up to some sort of an announcement.

Given the comment, it seems like it should have dropped.

Based on what I'm reading in a few spots now? It was meant to drop today but got pushed out. Nobody seems to know why...

But my best guess, based on what sort of things might push out an announcement like this? Rage (or the unknown third headliner) pulled out recently... And probably at least one bigger subheadliner (Brockhampton, maybe).

Not sure what else would trigger a delay like this. They've announced the line-up with plenty of question marks before. So you gotta figure it's a major act (or acts) causing the delay.

Losing hope for a lineup drop today.

Surely we'll get this and Govball this week, right?!

Doubt it's coming today. They've almost always announced the drop ahead of time. I think something happened with the line-up last week (e.g., headliner and/or a sub or two pulled out) because it was supposedly meant to drop on Friday.

FWIW, the web site looked to be down last night for a while. So they're probably updating a few things behind the scene. I'd guess we might get an announcement today or tomorrow with a drop the following day... Assuming they have all things about the line-up sorted out. Otherwise it could be a longer wait.

I have to say, though. For all the gripping people are doing in other areas on-line? This is the first time Boston Calling has had a major line-up hiccup like this.

The silence is always baffling to me in situations like this when a simple "Line-up is coming! We promise! It'll be worth the wait!" would assuage people... But still. Pretty impressive track record given the nature of the festival.

New pipe dream based on gaps in tour scheduling: Foo Fighters with Jimmy Eat World and Jawbreaker performing Dear You on one of the single days. Highly unlikely? Sure. But it'd still be sweet.

And with Jawbreaker breaking up while on tour with the Foos in support of Dear You, it would be kind of a cool thing.

Ya'll see the When We Were Young lineup that dropped today? I honestly dont think any fest can top that!

its an insane lineup but the fact that it's a single day festival means I'm not even considering it

The fact that it's a single-day festival with that many bands has me feeling like that festival is a nostalgia cash grab that will have 15-20 minute sets for most bands running through their greatest hits. It'll be easy to top that for me, considering that I've seen a lot of the bands I'd want to see perform much longer at some point during the last five years or so.

Having a line-up that stacked isn't always a positive thing. Especially when it's so condensed.

The social media silence is pretty unnerving at this point. Even at their slowest, there's usually 2-3 social media posts a week, but there hasn't been anything since that uncomfortable/now-regrettable Dave Grohl tweet from Monday the 10th.

I kinda feel like something pretty significant has to have changed with regard to the line-up. We're now out of "calm before the storm/line-up release" territory" and into "what the fuck is happening?!" land.

Kinda glad I haven't bought my tickets yet, TBH. After looking through past line-ups I was reminded of the fact that - while I've always managed to have fun - there's usually only 5-6 bands on the line-up that I'm actively interested in seeing. There's plenty I'm passively interested in/willing to check out but... My hype has been managed. Hah.

The "big get" for me is if we wind up with a stage that is Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, Jawbreaker performing Dear You, and Dinosaur Jr. Unlikely and certainly a pipe dream. But feels like it could happen given the kind of acts the festival tends to book (and gaps in touring schedules, etc).

I would've guessed that maybe a possible RATM drop would've been causing this delay, but it's also interesting that Gov Ball hasn't announced their lineup either (and they never were getting Rage to begin with). So maybe BC and Govball were sharing a headliner who just cancelled their tour plans?

    Assuming this is a joke?

My initial thought was that Rage dropped along with Brockhampton (unannounced). A "big get" headliner like Rage and a decent sized sub like that would justify a delay like the one we're seeing. But it doesn't usually take this long to sort that kind of shit out. So unless it happened on Thursday/Friday? I dunno what the fuck is happening. Hah.

But I doubt that BC got news about Rage dropping out and they are just sitting on it while still selling tickets. From what I've seen, that's just not how this stuff works. BC is far enough out from Coachella that it's totally reasonable for Rage to still be deciding whether or not to move forward with the rest of their spring/early summer dates. I don't buy the whole "LOL Rage cancelled Coachell and people think they might still play Boston Calling or other tour dates?!" take.

We saw it with the festivals/tours last year - bands/artists would wait until the very last minute to see if they could make it happen. And the announcements happened pretty quickly from there.

I'm thinking it's the third, unannounced headliner dropping that they now have to replace. And maybe a sub or two. Or maybe the Twitter person just got over excited/fucked up their post and got all our hopes up. Haha.
