I love the 2014 Redding performance, I watched it a few weeks ago. Probably one of their best live performances since the reunion. My other favorites are 2011 KROQ Almost Christmas and their KROQ 2013 Redbull Sound stage set. The 2011 Vegas set that was recorded for Direct TV was good too.

My 2003 was Nofx, Strike Anywhere, Lagwagon, Blink-182, Alkaline Trio, AFI, Rufio, and Dashboard

2004 was another great year: Rise Against, Bad Religion, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Green Day, Descendents, Pulley, Jimmy Eat World, Social Distortion, A Whilhem Scream, Tsunami Bomb, NFG, Relient K

    So many!

Wow that was a really interesting read. Matt talking about Tom. Mark, Tom and Travis meeting together over the summer. Mark bringing up the possibility of all four of them playing together.
Also confirmed what we all initially thought, that Mark's announcement on IG about his cancer was an accident, and was meant to be sent to close friends.

At this point, for better or worse, I would be shocked if a 2nd reunion didn’t happen.

Also cool that the 3 of them all hung out for a few hours randomly.

I can't believe Mark actually mentioned the idea of the 4 of them being in the same house together haha.

    Things have changed.

Tom was always going to be back, in some capacity, but it's a little sad it's taken such grief and loss (both times) to get them to do it.

I think the 2nd reunion was always inevitable. It’s just been is it 5, 10, or 20 years away

I would welcome a 4 piece, but I can't help but feel like it would be short lived for the same reason the last two breaks happened.

Still firmly believe Tom would never go for the 4 piece in a million years

But glad Mark could get in on stoking the blink social media fires on that one lol

I would not like them playing as a 4 piece

Tom left. Tom came back after Travis plane crash. Then he left. Tom may come back after Mark’s diagnosis. He may come back.

How about they just work on a song together and see if there’s a creative spark. If they want for marketing sake, do the song and throw it on the new 85% complete album. But just be a bunch of friends for a while so you don’t have to have 3rd time of Tom leaving. Hopefully there’s more Blink albums in the future, and if all’s good then work together.

    Here is my guess

They do the Tom reunion tour for untitled 20th anniversary. Then follow it up with an album that features both Tom and Skiba. Then going forward some tours are Tom tours but the majority end up being Skiba tours.

“Tom is too busy to join us for this run, but we will have Matt back! You can expect to see Tom with us in Europe next spring”

I wouldnt hold it against Tom to want blink back as it was or let them be blink with Skiba anytime else.

I don’t think Tom’s in the position of power here. Hopefully if something happens it’s something that they all want and have confidence in. I listened to Nine last week and that record is still awesome. Hopefully this is al a friendship and art based decision if it happens. For now, give me that new record they’ve been working on.

I think all three original members have a certain "power" over the band, but who knows. It's not about that though. I think Tom has said it best in recent interviews- if it makes sense for all of them and the time is right, it would be cool to have him back.

I mean in the sense heave released 2 records without him. I’m sure that pattern could continue if Mark, Travis and Matt wanted. That’s pretty powerful.

  19. In my perfect world, Blink stops caring about radio/relevancy/their legacy, and they all get in a room/house and write an album of whatever comes to them naturally as a group. I think Matt would be a better fit in this scenario than current Tom. And when that album comes out and gets called “their best since Untitled” by all the fans, all the current Matt haters finally let their guard down and say “ok fine. Matt can stay.”

  20. Heh, I think Mark cares very much about the legacy

  21. Exactly. And that’s fine, of course. But I wish he’d let his guard down a bit like he did for Untitled and go down that path one more time.

Nine is their best album since Untitled.

  23. I agree. I say that often. And all the Tom fanboy bozos call me crazy and then say Neighborhoods is Top 3, and “bottom of the ocean” is one of the best songs on California. Just a whole lot of “wtf” kinda shit. Haha.

Change nothing about “Nine” but put Tom’s vocals in place of Matt’s and folks would be saying that record and untitled are on the same plane.

I would pay decent money for any one of the TikTok Tom voice impersonators to do that and hear what it sounds like.

    (quietly)

Neighborhoods is a secretly great songwriting record that Jerry Finn could have turned into a Mt. Rushmore album with a few different production choices.
