I waited for Up All Night 2 years but the wait/hype for this album cycle has been intense as well

 

I have meetings until 11- going to miss the premier! Definitely taking a walk at 11:01 to listen.

In 2009, when David Kennedy leaked that Blink was getting back together and putting out a new album, the excitement was off the charts. But then we had to wait 2 years for the album to finally come out, and it turned out to be awkward and not very good, and it felt like they got back together maybe a little prematurely. It just all felt really dark and weird still.

This reunion feels like it’s going the way that I wish the 2009 one should have gone. It feels genuine and feels like everyone is on the same page and actually happy to be back. It finally feels like we are getting the proper follow-up to Untitled, I guess, and I’m just happy that the band members seem to all be in a good place and are genuine friends again. This finally feels like the Blink-182 reunion I’ve been wanting since 2005.

 

I waited so long for Up All Night that it ended up surprising me when it came out. That said, that song was terribly underwhelming for me. Loved Bored to Death when it came out, and I remember actually hearing that one on the radio a decent bit.

Waiting for OMT seems a lot different. Like all of you, I've gotten older, and both my priorities and worldview have changed drastically since 2011 & 2016. I just don't anticipate new music as much as I used to. It's a distant 2nd and 3rd, but I'd say new music by Senses Fail & by Tycho still get me throwing calender events up.

The feeling here today that there's so many people beyond the last two releases in 2011 & 2016 also makes it special. As has been reflected umpteen times before, Travis is in the spotlight and guitar music is popular again due in no small part to him.
