I think completely removing any song from an album is pretty weird, but I especially can’t imagine doing it with that one lol

@Jason Tate have you heard any of the upcoming deluxe tracks yet?

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

Only track on the album I’m not crazy about is Childhood. Musically I find it great but the vocal effects completely take me out of it and I find them grating.

Everything else on the album is like 7.9 and higher for me. Just an unreal comeback album in every way. We are blessed.

Bad News is a great Mark song, but I could take or leave You Don't Know What You've Got

You Don’t Know What You’ve Got is top tier.

Only songs I ever consider skipping are When We Were Young, which I like but think it could’ve used some more polishing, and Edging. I usually don’t end up skipping anything though.

My brain is just hardwired to listen to complete albums. I almost never skip songs I don’t like.

I’ve always been that way. If a record has more than 3 songs I don’t like, chances are I’m just not going to listen record a lot. Simple as that.

So, it should go without saying that I also couldn’t bring myself to remove a song from an album either.

IMG_5957.png My controversial track list I created for the album. It took me awhile, but eventually I think I found the best sequencing and the right songs.

I just can't imagine being like "hmmm I really want a burger, but I reallllllly fucking hate sliced tomato. Oh well, it's how the chef intended it!"

Especially when the burger in question is like from like...Applebees lol

You're right, sorry, I'll be more literal.

I can't imagine sitting through 3:37 of a song you've heard 25+ times and can confidently state "I don't like this"

  21. Listen to songs you like and don’t listen to ones you don’t. It’s so easy

Tastes change over time. Sometimes a song doesn’t click until I live some life or go through a particular experience. Maybe I begin to notice an aspect I do enjoy and it helps me appreciate the intent of the song, if nothing else. So, I don’t skip songs on albums. Like someone said above, if there’s more than 2-3 songs I don’t like, I’m probably not listening to that album much anyway.

  23. Same. I don’t listen to albums if there’s multiple songs I “hate” to the point of needing to skip. That means I don’t like the album. Songs I like less than others I don’t have much of an issue listening to, and often end up growing to like. I don’t like “Shut Up” that much but the idea of skipping it feels wild to me because the album would feel “off.” Same with like “Life of a Salesman.” Maybe it’a a habit of growing up with tapes and records and then CD players where to skip a song meant getting up and walking over to something to change it. In my room I’d have to move from my desk to the stereo to skip a song, so I have an innate feel for how albums should sound as a whole. Prefer that feeling of completionism and experiencing the full album. If I want a playlist (I almost never do) I’d rather listen to a mix or something on shuffle (meh) than manually skip through an album. (And I often end up really liking songs I didn’t think I did.)

Being a big album person really makes sense when you’re also into vinyl. I just hit play and the album plays until I need to flip or swap out the vinyl. It works well for me.

I have a record collection, and grew up with tapes and CDs too. I just would prefer not to listen to the 1 or 2 songs on an album I otherwise really enjoy if I’ve already determined “I think this is not fun to listen to” lol
