WOW - blink just announced they are playing the Bird's Nest at the Waste Management Phoenix Open here in Arizona. If you've ever been... you understand how crazy this is.

As someone from CT, can you explain why it's crazy? Lol

 

It's basically a culminating tent concert at the end of the day of the Phoenix Open golf tournament... which is essentially a giant shit show of hundreds of thousands of people day drinking while a golf tournament is going on in the background. Usually the acts that play the Birds Nest are EDM DJ's - Tiesto, Steve Aoki types, country artists, last year they had Robin Thicke. Would never thought in a thousand years that blink would play. I love it!

I meant in general, the drums and the general mix sounds very tight.

 

Well, my initial goal was only tring to emulate that Travis (kind of Feldy) drum sound..
I programmed on Superior + other samples (I'm not a drummer, but I use to program them on lots of my stuff, I think I've used 3 or 4 snares) and than played real bass and guitar.
Some of the tracks have stuck plugins, some others have Waves mostly. Pretty much stuff like eq, compression, saturation, and bus compression and limiting on the master.
I might try to put vocals too, but I think this is a little high for me on the chorus.
I think I'll post some others from California in the next weeks....
If there are better singers here that wanna try to sing and send me tracks, maybe it would be a fun collab :D

It's like when you're a kid around that age and hell, even well into your teens and you're listening to music and pretending you're in a music video when you think no one is looking come to life.

 

Saw that Travis started following Jeffree Star which I found weird, since I really can't stand Jeffree, especially after making that joke about Travis to promote his songs right after the plane crash. (said "my new songs are on fire like Travis Barker" in case you didn't see or remember) Hopefully he apologized.

 

so that interview with Blink for KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas... did the performance and everything happen? isn't there usually a stream of the KROQ show that people tend to rip?

 

KROQ's become lazy. I was hoping for that as well, but apparently they didn't transmit the sets anywhere.

It's too soon to release a whole new second album while the California buzz is still peaking. I love the idea of a huge double album thing happening. I can't wait for all of us to pick and choose songs to make new track lists and stuff. This is going to be fun! I'm excited to hear a lot of new shit and not just a couple bonus tracks.

I suppose so! It will be great to get new songs but I sort of selfishly wish they would work really hard on that batch for the next year and drop a new album 2017

 

It would be cool to consider California a double album. Who knows, maybe it'll end up being a trilogy :P
