Yeah, I really miss the energy they had on their first couple of records.

For me it has nothing to do with Tom. I think Skiba is great and prefer him over Tom any day. California is still garbage though.

Super pumped for the guys, this is huge and well deserved for everyone involved. I think it's between them and Panic! for the win.

I'm not even going to visit Reddit to see, but I wonder how pissed they are that this will lock Feldmann in to succeed Finn as the 4th member of blink for however long lol

I don't mind it one bit. Still was enjoying the crap out of this album today

I still think the album is very average but idk why Reddit thinks that Feldmann is 100% in control of how songs turn out

I still like the album, more than Neighbourhoods.
I think Feldmann had a massive influence on the 'jokiness' of the record and the youth that they were trying to portray. Which people don't seem to like.

Would take this record over Neighborhoods any day of the week. Aside from like 2 songs it's a complete trainwreck.

    I liked Neighborhoods :/

Definitely like it way more than California

    I am a haunted house. I'm superstitious.

I don't care how good or bad California is. I just want to see blink putting their hands on that Grammy.

Even if they do win, I'm pretty sure they don't televise the winner of this category. I know they didn't when Paramore won Best Rock Song.

Well it looks like they televised best rock album when Beck won in 2015. Not sure about last year though

I think Feldmann was a lock even before the Grammy announcement.

Again I don't get all the hate for Feldmann, maybe it's mostly from the younger fans that weren't around during blink's prime and don't realize how they wrote/recorded with Finn.

I think even before the Grammy nomination he felt like an idiot as album and tour being a massive success without him. It has to be a huge ego hit no matter who you are.

Yeah I'd pick Neighborhoods over California no question. Still wanna see them get that grammy, though.

I've never been bothered by the way Feldmann approached writing with the band. I just don't like the way the record SOUNDS. That isn't all on him either, because I'm sure Mark and Travis aren't push-arounds in the studio. Even though TOYP and Enema were polished records, I much preferred the fuzzier, louder, messier, more chaotic sound of Untitled.

I also think they had a very specific goal. Get back in the charts, on the radio, and become relevant again. I think because of that goal, the blink that I love got pushed to the wayside in favor of dumbed-down lyrics, nah nah's, whoa's, and the like.

Since the release of this record, I've felt that it was way below what freaking Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba are capable of doing, as evident with their more previous work (WYHSB, Neighborhoods, Kuts, My Shame.)

I definitely agree that they are capable of more, but I am super ok with California as a starting point because if Feldmann had tried to jump right in with something more ambitious like Untitled, I one hundred percent believe it would've been a total disaster like Lies For The Liars or D.R.U.G.S. I'm much more excited for future music cause Skiba's been accepted and they can work together much more organically from this point.

Oh yeah, and I should add that I am also still curious to see what they come up with next. If it's something similar to California, I'll be bummed out. I just find myself visiting those other albums that I mnetioned when I want to listen to them. I thought teaming up would be like a dream but it hasn't panned out that way. California is the first blink album that I just couldn't get on board with, even considering Neighborhoods wasn't that great.

Well we both hope for the same thing going forward haha. California is by no means perfect but songs like San Diego, Bored To Death, Cynical and Left Alone make me glad they're still going. I have it above TOYPAJ, Neighborhoods, DED and Cheshire personally. Nowhere near Dude Ranch or Untitled though.

If their natural progression is along the lines of WYHSB and Kuts, I would be SUPER happy, Matt's Sekrets albums are especially what made me think he could fit nicely in blink.

I agree their next album should be really interesting. I think it's fair to say that they made a "safe" album with California and really focused on having a fun summer pop album. I wouldn't be bummed out if the next album is similar to California because I think they have some really really good songs on there (along with some misses). But I would like to see themselves push themselves also.

Oh man I'd love to see a mix of WYHSB and Sekret albums.

I think I'd rank California either my 4th or 5th favorite blink album depending on my mood. Untitled, TOYPAJ and Enema can't be topped but it depends on how I feel about Dude Ranch. Mark's songs are great but I don't think Tom's has aged well at all and they tend to bring the album down for me.

Yeah, like Voyeur and Degenerate haven't aged well, Mark definitely owns that record. His songs are so easily his best that it's enough for me to be a toss-up between that and Untitled for my favorite. Very different records so it's a mood thing any given day haha. Was always more of a Mark guy.

Recently, I've really started to love Kuts. I liked it when it came out but something just clicked for me lately with it.
