Dysentery Gary is one I loved when I was younger and then I really paid attention to the lyrics and realized, this song just isn't for me anymore. Oh well, I guess. It's been awhile since I've listened to California, should give it a listen today.

My mistake, I mixed up first date and rock show, those should have been reversed

Man how are you gonna neglect Carousel? Cheshire isn't that great overall but that's one of blink's best songs!

They've never really dropped the ball on an opening track. Ghosts on the Dance floor was even very good in relation to the rest of the album

I feel like the whole tracking of Neighborhoods was odd and off. I personally would have gone with Natives as the opening track, with a different intro to make it feel like a blink opener, and This Is Home as the closing track. I just feel like the two songs talk about going home/this is home makes it a good bookend on the album, which is their 1st since they got back together so they could use the whole "home" thing as a we're back to being a band which is home for us or whatever. Especially with the last line of This Is Home being This.Is.Home. I think while the song isn't anything special would be a good closer over Even If She Falls, which I love but just seems like it was just put there because it was a "bonus track". Also add to the fact that there were rumors before the track listing came out that there was going to be a song called Anthem Part 3 and a lot of fans feel like This Is Home would/could have been that song and the original Anthem closed Enema.

Damn! I've never seen someone rank Anthem Part 2 as least favorite opener.

    My ranking would be:
    Feeling This
    Anthem Part 2
    Pathetic
    Carousel
    Ghost On The Dancefloor
    Dumpweed
Tie: Cynical/ When I Was Young.. both good songs but idk

Actually Anthem pt 2 is probably easily my least favorite just cause of the lyrics. Well no, I like Ghosts but that would be last. Actually Dumpweed would be lower than Anthem for me.

    Pathetic
    Carousel
    Feeling This
    Cynical
    Anthem pt 2
    Dumpweed
    When I Was Young
    Ghosts On The Dance Floor

I can't imagine seeing that order from a single other person but whatever lol.

I've never really thought about it before, but yeah, Blink always comes through on their openers. I think "Ghost on the Dance Floor" is easily the weakest though, but I don't really think that album had a solid opener out of the bunch. All the rest are classics.

    Feeling This
    Carousel
    Dumpweed
    Pathetic
    Cynical
    When I Was Young
    Anthem Part II
    Ghost on the Dance Floor

I like "Anthem Part II", and of course it's a classic, but those lyrics just did not hold up. That and "Give Me One Good Reason" are the embodiment of Tom's "teenage-angst" pandering. Songs like "Reckless Abandon" and "Anthem" are cool because they reflect back on all the crazy stuff we used to do as kids, but "Anthem Part II" complaining about adults when he was like 25... come on.

I still love the album but the songs you mentioned in addition to First Date and Lonely Guy, I mean people have complained about California but at worst to me Kings Of The Weekend and Teenage Satellites have more of a nostalgic tone to me. Those songs on TOYPAJ straight up were written from the POV of a 15 year old lol. Always a fun album but sometimes I just can't listen all the way through it.

I used to love TOYPAJ and I still get nostalgic but it's weird to me that I feel too old for the lyrics on it but they were still like 8 years older than me when they wrote it or something like that

TOYPAJ has the worst lyrics but that production is MINT.

  17. you mean you don't relate to this poetry??

"They hate the trends and think it's fucked to care,
it's cool when they piss people off with what they wear, oh yeah"

"Hate the jocks, the preps, the hippie fuckin scumbags.
Heavy metalers with their awful pussy hair bands"...These two lines are my least two favorite lines in Blink history.

haha exactly. Even back then I was weirded out about how this guy thought he was like a voice for angsty teenagers, but now knowing how he's talked about himself and the band's "legacy" recently....it makes sense.

It's truly baffling how bad this band was at writing lyrics
