I've always wanted a full set audio bootleg from the 04/05 era.

I'm on a quest to get this full video bootleg.

 

it was the best of times

 

so much tension on stage... Looking back on some of those videos. I feel like Mark almost cries during certain songs.

 

Aren't you exaggerating a bit?

 

No.. comparing how they were on-stage pre BCR - huge difference. Mark/Tom rarely would acknowledge one another, songs got much faster, much less banter. Maybe I'm looking into the Mark thing too much but now with the knowledge of how much fighting/anger was taking place behind the scenes. I'm sure he saw the end coming or at least his relationship with Tom fizzling out.

 

I honestly don't see any tension in that video. What are you referring to, specifically?

 

Referring to the shows in general around that period/final tours

 

Oh. Probably. Kind of weird to put a video with those statements that doesn't show it at all though.

 

It does look like Tom is off in his own world in that video

 

Yeah I remember someone saying they were on blink disasters but I've had no luck in finding anything.

 

Yup even during their reunion tour, Neighborhood tour and mini random tours there was a definitely awkward feeling between Mark and Tom. Even when they joked around it once or twice felt forced. It sucks because the chemistry between the two was great back in the peak of blink.

I really would be interested in seeing an alternative universe where Tom never creates BCR and see if the band would have broken up anyway. There was reportedly a lot of tension even dating back to the TOYPAJ album with Tom pushing back against the labels. That was really the first Tom heavy album blink had made too and he really took over singing most of the songs on albums since. So it's possible the band was destined to break up one way or the other anyway.

 

There used to be a ton of blink bootlegs on that site. I had their last concert before the break up for the longest time, along with a bunch of others but deleted them once I got a new computer because it wasn't the best quality.

Nice find! Wonder if any of them are of good enough quality to download. Really wish I could find some good bootlegs of concerts I've been to.

 

Re the Tom stuff, it's funny to think that once upon a time we all regarded Aliens Exist as a fun, frivolous little pop-punk song that we never gave a second thought to, when in actuality it was an omen of far darker things to come.

Blink was doomed the moment that song was written.
