Right? It's not like they're rushing out coloring books, koozies, and shirts with a photo from a music video that's over four years old.

I think it would be smart of them to release a "b-sides" EP. California, despite what we all think of it, has been selling pretty well. Mostly sold out summer tour. They're relevant at the moment, of course they want to try and keep momentum going.

Even if the EP was full of new songs they haven't written or recorded yet, it took them roughly 3 months (January to March) to write and record 15 songs (not including the two joke songs but including Hey I'm Sorry). I'm sure they can write 4 or 5 new songs in a month, especially with the way Feldmann made them work. And I'm sure no matter what Hey I'm Sorry would be one of those songs anyway which is already in the can.

Hell it took Blink what less than 2 weeks to make DED.

But your point remains they wouldn't be rushing anything.

That doesn't sound like a cash grab or anything!

So I'll assume you haven't read a page of the book and are just talking shit to talk shit. The book is really good and way more engaging and imaginative than anything Blink has done in the past year or two.

I used to feel that way too. Maybe it's all the ugly merch I bought and never could bring myself to wear, but I just don't feel like sinking more money into this band until they prove they deserve it again.

  7. i don't buy their shirts and ugly merch anymore, but i'm a sucker for blink, "making of" documentaries, and b-sides/bonus tracks from bands i love. so all of those things together would make me very excited. we'll see what happens.

Tom's books are certainly imaginative, but they aren't good.

Yup I love blink but I haven't bought a single shirt or other merch from them since 2002. Part of the reason why I passed on buying the California bundle with the autograph CD and drum head was because it came with a t-shirt and sweatshirt that I knew I'd never wear, although I regret that now haha.

I just want new songs and any sort of documentary or live concert DVD. I will forever give them my money for those things.

    Have you read Serkret Machines?

The last two experiences I have with Tom's imagination are his demos EP and that Poet Anderson novel. I know it's supposed to be three strikes but I'll just go by slow pitch softball rules and take my two strikes and be out.

I don't think a documentary is coming out that looks like the Spotify drop they had honestly

You didn't like anything on the demos EP?

  14. There was ONE decent song on there. Endless Summer. The rest were god awful.

I gave it a fair shot but couldn't get far into it. Sekret Machines and that young adult book he wrote are both a lot of world building and setup with the most uninteresting characters and plot. They are not saying anything worth delving into. Imaginative, yes. They have something there, they aren't unreadable garbage. But they're also not good.

Fair enough, I couldn't finish Poet Anderson but found Sekret Machines alot more engaging so far...that being said I'm not done with it yet. lol

I just have no interest in anything Tom is doing outside of blink. I haven't really liked anything AVA has done since their 2nd album, his demo album was bad and I just don't care about the books and/or movies. Nothing against him personally, I'm not a Tom hater, but it's just not for me.

That song is fun. Also "Built this pool" and "brohemian"

  20. Same. I love the BCR album still, but besides that, i could do without any other AVA/Tom album. The first and second AVA albums were okay, but I think I liked them mainly just because of Tom's involvement with them. I haven't listened to them in years.

Not particularly and it's kind of insulting that I think he's acted like blink's older stuff is beneath him for so long and he brought so much of his AVA sound into blink (three of the songs on the Dogs Eating Dogs EP might as well be straight up AVA songs that Mark and Travis happen to play on) and then he pandered and put that out like "no guys look, I'm all about that crappy blink punk rock."

And let's be honest, if you want to call out blink for a potential EP being a "cash grab", you can't defend Tom's demos EP being for sale and some of those deluxe packages Tom was selling for that release. If Tom thought someone would buy his shit, literal shit, he would autograph it and sell it.

Lol I forgot I have the hoodie and realize I'll probably never wear it either haha. I just missed the drumhead (put it off for just 5 minutes and the drumhead was gone when I came back to the page ugh lol) but still plenty satisfied spending that for the signed cd.

And yes please to a concert dvd with this lineup.

I still love the BCR album too although now at times I kind of wish it was never made.

I stopped really listening to AVA maybe a few months after the Love albums came out. I just don't find that band interesting anymore. I haven't even listened to any of the EPs he released since Dream Walker. Maybe I grew out of the band, I don't know. I just have no desire to listen to any of those albums now.

I think I'm in the same boat you are in that you liked them mainly because Tom was involved with it.

Yeah I really debated whether to buy it myself and put it off until later that night and decided to look at the bundles again and by that time they were all sold out. I didn't realize it was just a limited edition of them otherwise I probably would have just gotten it. The signed CD was still available but if I was going to get a bundle I wanted both the CD and drumhead. I probably should have just gotten the signed CD, I would have gotten a nice frame and display case and put it downstairs in my basement with all my other autograph stuff. Maybe next time I guess.

Yeah I plan to frame it someday. I have Mark signed booklets of Cheshire Cat, Buddha, Dude Ranch and Enema so idk if I want to do them all together or not. I've had those for 16 years and haven't properly done anything with them yet haha.
