My First Punk Song is the only song I skip every single time I listen to BCR lol.

 

samesies. that song ruins the flow. and it also reminds me of now-Tom where he's like, "Blink wasn't punk rock, but THIS is! I am a genius!" or some shit.

 

Did Tom really say Blink wasn't punk rock though ? I don't recall that.

Yeah I love the BCR album but never liked My First Punk Song. The guitar and drums in it are good but the lyrics are terrible. I always skip that song too, it just seems out of place on that album.

 

That song showed me that Tom never knows how to execute his vision entirely and gets randomly sidetracked. He made a very serious album and right in the middle "I ate brownies from your mother and it gave me syphillis! I've got no dick!"

 

I don't think Tom and Mark will ever play music together again. If it absolutely came down to it I think BCR might get back together and +44 or some type of Mark and Travis project will come back.

 

I really love that riff in " The War ".

So my wife and I told her sister that we got lawn tickets for her and her fiance to go to the Chicago show for her birthday. I was supposed to get the tickets and kept putting it off thinking I was fine. Then I realized her brother, who is 22 but just now starting to really get into Blink because of me - is not going away for his MBA and is getting it in town instead so he would be around for the show. So I told him I would get him a ticket for his birthday (the day before the show) since he has NEVER BEEN TO A CONCERT BEFORE IN HIS LIFE.

So I really wanted to splurge and get a pit ticket for him but couldn't even find one for halfway decent resell price that wasn't craigslist and that site is just asking to get burned...


Long story long - lawn tickets are even sold out. I ended up going in halfzies with my in-laws and got 3 tickets in row 102 (one of the three front sections at Chicago) and 19 rows back - so practically as close as they can be to the stage without being in the pit.


I told them all today I ordered their "lawn" tickets....not going to tell them where they're really sitting until the night before haha. They're literally going to shit themselves when they realize how close they're going to be.

That last Sekrets album was great. Right around the time it was released, wasn't he already being introduced to blink in some manner? I felt like the blink stuff kinda overshadowed that album and it didn't get the proper attention.

 

Well the album is kinda boring, so... gotta talk about something!

 

Yeah I think they've probably had some differences over the years, especially with Matt's substance abuse, but overall I think they're pretty deep into the "brothers" type relationship.

I'll convinced "Broken Wing" is about Matt.

 

Sorry I'm late to the convo but I've been without internet for a week.....Just finished the Tom documentary. Thought it was really good. Made me appreciate him a lot more. Even though I don't like a lot of the "art" he's been putting out these last 5 years, I respect him for wanting to constantly push himself into new art forms, even if it does fail.

Also I really want that Whisper acoustic album. That's my third favorite Tom record (behind Untitled and BCR).

 

.....are you referring to California? If so it is far from boring, and you sir haven't been paying attention to this thread for weeks lol

 

I still really like California but everything about that record has already been said, there's nothing to really talk about it

 

I still like the record, but recently I've only been listening to the first three songs. It'll probably end up being in second to last place for blink records for me.

 

I stand by Neighborhoods having better songs, but suffering from production and tom's vocal performance, so this is still about even with it for me.

 

California places high mid tier to me in the scheme of their discography honestly

 

I was just kidding, I have the album. But I do tend to think its kinda boring. I think after repeated listens I like about 5-6 songs, which is okay I suppose. Just wasn't what I wanted, that's all.
