So after all this time that Tom wanted to make blink sound like U2, they are now taking an artist who worked for U2? Hahaha.

Renee Renee was the best mark cameo in any song ever.

 

I would not be disappointed if this made its way onto the new record. Sounds so good.

I don't think that sounds like anything other than them just strumming some chords. I hope so at least.

Just reminded myself of this interview where it shows Dan wanted to have started making a new Trio album by now. Matt is now the Tom of Alkaline Trio.

I completely forgot about this interview, but yea I remember Dan wanted to start a new Trio record by now. The only thing I didn't like was that Dan and Matt never really spoke about the whole Blink thing.

 

Yep. Both Derek and Dan when talking to fans even into late last fall were saying they expected to be in the studio by early this year. This is their 20th anniversary year and they were also expecting to put together something for that. And Derek was on a podcast with Brendan Kelly who was saying he and Dan went full throttle with the Falcon when "something happened with Blink" and Derek wouldn't touch it. He said jokingly "I have no idea what you're talking about" or something like that. Makes sense recording the blink album took longer than expected when they've now said they went back and did it twice. Not going to lie, I'm a bitter betty about it so I'm hoping this album is phenomenal.

 

I am glad Dan has been able to do writing for the Falcon last year and play shows this year. BTW, that new Falcon record is really fantastic. Same with Derek. He has been doing more solo stuff and did the Suicide Machines run. Howoever, with the Blink timeline being pushed back and still yet to tour, new Alkaline stuff has really been tabled for the near future. Hopefully we will get more Trio material down the line.

 

I forgot how much I loved this song! Renee Renee should've been the one featured on Pretty Little Girl instead.

This is going to be a loooooong week. Wish releases were still early in the week.

 

I would have to assume they'd do some kind of announcement about Kevin and Bean.

 

New version of the smiley? Might be put in more as a reference to the logo rather than being a new version of it that'll be used.

No arrows. I would think they are basically saying they are starting over. Clean slate.

 

Mark specifically said "no arrows," though. Makes me wonder if this is the new smiley.

I think the image will only be six posts. A lot of his other art is 16x9, and this seems to be the same. This would line up perfectly with the April 28 release of the single.

 

It would be cool if the new album title was Tabula Rasa.

 

i bet it will be something like that.

 

Definitely doing Dude Ranch through Dogs Eating Dogs at work today. Gonna be a good day.

 

That's what made me think it might be the new logo instead of just a reference. I'd like to see it being used on merch, social media etc. for a change of scenery if nothing else.
