If the singer/songwriter of Goldfinger is producing and co-writing every track on Blink's new album, shouldn't we expect some Goldfinger sounds to show up here and there? I don't get why it's such a point of contention. At least it's not Taking Back Sunday.

lol this thread since the song came out is like 10% about the new song, 40% about Tom, and 50% about other bands. Yeah, we definitely need a new song. People get bored fast.

 

So many things wrong here. First, the idea that coming from the skate scene matters at all. Second, their following before Dude Ranch was not very big at all - this "credibility" argument is so stupid in 2016, but even more stupid over the most marketed band to ever come from the pop-punk world. Third, they were destroyed by their "peers" in the punk rock scene for ripping off NOFX. 5SoS has more respect from the forefathers of pop-punk than Blink ever did. They all write songs together. Fat Mike was never writing a song with Tom Delonge. Joey Cape used to make fun of them on stage all the time.

The way I see groups like that Five Seconds of Summer is like Busted and McFly. I'd say as much as I'm not a fan All Time Low are a bit more like the blink for a younger generation.

But then those two bands probably have a shit load of crossover fans anyway

No, I think that Good Charlotte, Blink-182, All Time Low, NFG are the forefathers of 5SoS and they respect the band more than the forefathers of Blink-182 (Nofx, Green Day, etc) ever did them.
