Just out of curiosity, may I ask what your negativities about him are? I haven't read his book; hope to pick it up next week.

 

Green Day got me into pop punk, but I come back to Blink more often than Green Day at this point. I've seen both bands twice (not together) and Green Day's shows blow Blink out of the water.

I have more faith in Blink to deliver when it comes to mainstream success however.

My top 5 aren't really related to Blink haha:
1. Steven Wilson
2. Computer Magic
3. Kishi Bashi
4. Relient K
5. iamthemorning

 

It's not a very good book. There's some cool stories, but it's so scattered and all over the place. There's really no structure.

 

I'd say over a third of the book is just simply talking/bragging about the amount of women he has fucked, half the time acting like some sort of victim somehow for things like sleeping knowingly with married women or cheating on his wife. Then how he acts as if he's a member of some sort of gang, actually has members of rival gangs at his wedding while he has a gun on him with his kids right behind him. There's a part about drumming too where he says how he's more interested in that he's interested in the drum part than anything else and I've always felt his drumming was way too self indulgent so that hit that home too.

 

I mean, the vibe I got from that stuff wasn't that he was 'making himself the victim', moreso that he felt terrible about doing it/regrets it.

 

It's quite possible that they open to number one. Neighborhoods was 2 and that album...Really crossing my fingers for a song that I instantly have to put on repeat for atleast a week.

 

I was reading the Travis book on a 4 hour flight. Wasn't written well enough to be an easy page turner. It was written simply enough to keep turning, though. That said I made it about 40 pages in before I fell asleep...it was a long night plus early flight. I thought it was decent. Trav said something like "i slept with 15 girls in high school...easily." And I was like "I slept with none...I have some catching up to do."
It really just helped me get into the minds of people that become successful. He had a very supportive family...Simple as that.

 

I've already done that for almost a month with BTD.

 

I havent. I listened to it a lot, but there were other songs around the same time that I listened to more. I'm looking at you Weezer -Jacked Up, and you Posner Pill

 

Travis mentioned on an interview while he was promoting the book that it was a honest mistake and that they'd correct it on next printings to include Tom.

Also, on the Green Day stuff - there's this video of Tom calling Billie before blink's set during the reunion tour. His son picks-up and has no fucking clue of who Tom Delonge from blink 182 is:

 

When I watch a video like that, immediately I think that Billie may have been heavily under the influence at the time of the phone call. That, or it was loud as fuck on Billie's end and he was having trouble hearing.

 

It's funny to see much hate they were getting for warning making them less "punk". Then their reaction was to throw mud at blink for what they were doing

 

So I have never done a VIP package before. From experience, what does 'free VIP merchandise' usually entail

 

I signed up up for the feeling This package- meet and greet/photo with band/ merch, sound check etc. I assume it will be like a laminate, poster or maybe a shirt

During the Neighborhhods/ Honda Civic Tour, I did the boomer loves boobies VIP package Tom offered. You got to hang out with Tom/ get a pic, got a snap bracelet and a large original art print that he'd personalize.

 

I did the everything's package as well! Excited to meet them and get me and my finances pic with them. Was curious though if the merch is a shirt poster signed cd what have you lol

Still think the album title of "No Future" is pretty neat. Bummer that the album was only ALMOST given that title.

 

Agreed. I wish they would've named it that.

 

Art kinda makes me think it was made up before they decided on California as the title

 

When it was announced that album was called California, I was like, "Oh... Well, okay..." haha. Very mediocre title, to say the least.

 

I guess this is, what they call, growing up...

Speaking of Green Day/Blink sort of stuff, find it funny I've been watching these videos (I'm a sucker for them because they are at least somewhat better than Buzzfeed, haha) I like how they are both included in them on opposite ends of the spectrum haha.

 

My copy of the book arrived last week gonna delve into this weekend. (As well as the Ron Burgundy book) So that's Travis one bragging about all that?? Or Slash
I can't even picture Travis being a pants man. He seems the type of shy guy that only became cool later in life
