I agree, but to be fair when I made this the brackets were randomly generated so I couldn't purposely pit songs against particulars. Left Alone is one of my favorites, it just has the misfortune of going against the California equivalent of Golden State Warriors in the first round lol

I was making a joke earlier about First Date, but I get if people think there's a regression. I don't disagree for a good part. I think Untitled is the best blink record, and I think +44 is some of Mark's best writing easily. But at the same time I think he wasn't in a good place for those albums (the tension started with Boxcar as we know and just have to listen to No It Isn't to get where he was in his feelings then) and I think the best music usually comes out of difficult circumstances, I also get it if Mark had an album where he just kind of wanted to simply have more fun than he'd had in awhile.

 

This is mostly what I've been saying. (Though upon looking back on their older albums I don't find any new lyrics to be THAT much of a regression of at all sans Untitled/Neighborhoods/+44)

 

Left Alone and Cynical are pretty much exactly what I wanted from Skiba/Hoppus collaboration. It's such a shame they are against in another.

 

Random generator made some shitty matchups for sure. Those are both probably in my final four haha

 

It did, but it also made it interesting. I liked seeing people have to debate over two of their favorite songs

 

Haha yeah I'm not complaining. This record for the most part, people's favorites are all over the place past the obvious top ones so it's the only way to do it really

 

My logic exactly lol. This has been interesting.

 

Left Alone bums me out because no matter how many times I've heard it I just don't see it the way other people do and it just feels bland to me. Not a bad song or anything I just get nothing out of it.

In fact, until @chavril voted I was going to have to use my tie breaking powers on TWO different matches. Parking Lot had an impressive run. I didn't think anyone liked it except for me

 

cynical has had a brutal matchup every step of the way. And despite most of my favorites being eliminated I still see a solid final 4 possible.

I think it has more to do with what other songs it was matched up against. I personally think it's a middle of the pack song out of both California albums. Not the best, not the worst. Just kind of there. But didn't deserve the big complaints people had about it when it was first released, which I think was because people thought perhaps they would push that song as a single.
