Anyone think the 1st verse melody sounds like golden showers lol or is it just me

 

I can hear it. Unintentional, I'm sure. That and/or a symptom of writing together for so long.

 

All the bonus songs released are terrible. Like, so bad I don't know why the band felt they were worthy of putting out. I'm a big defender of California and still think much of that record was a lot of fun, but c'mon.

Also, the unwillingness to critically engage in this thread is pretty disappointing. I feel like there are much better reactions to people not liking songs you like than getting defensive and shouting about subjectivity. That's really pretty hollow and just generally doesn't foster interesting discussion. And to call people "harsh" and essentially claim that non-regulars in this thread can't legitimately criticize things? Sheesh, gimme a break.

Wildfire is probably the worst song of the entire Skiba era not including joke songs imo. I've really liked all the other ones for the most part but this one made me feel absolutely nothing.

No one was upset with critisism, it was fine, but rudeness and arrogance directed at some people who very lovely& wouldn't do the same and deserved better, that's what got my goat

 

Funny. I feel the opposite. I dig this new one.

 

It was a grower for me, but I dig it.

I just think it's odd that Parking Lot had "Target curb", "forgotten young suburbia", "we are the broken" and "na nas" and somehow this song was the breaking point lyric-wise for a lot of people in here lol.

 

You know that's actually a funny point. Though I feel like the topic came up for that song too but to a lesser extent

 

OK, so here's the thing:

The people who think this band walks on water will continue to find no fault with them. The people who loathe them now will continue to loathe them. And the people in the middle will continue to praise them when they feel it's warranted and critique them when they feel it's warranted.

All are valid opinions.

 

Well yeah, that's a given. And of course they're all valid opinions. I don't think that's what Schooner and everyone else is getting at. To me everything yesterday feels more about how you present your opinion and respect the other person's opinion. But we've moved on. Dog pics!,

 

I must have missed most of this going on, but I generally thought the whole thread was pretty critical of this song, and rightly so. I defended these tracks in the sense that I said I don't know why people assumed they would be a departure from California or a bunch of amazing songs....they're just b-sides. But I don't remember too many people here claiming they were "good" by any means.
