I actually noticed this with The Upsides by The Wonder Years yesterday. Listened to that album hundreds of times, then first time in the car and I'm picking new things up on quite a few songs. Not sure what it was, I put it down to how loud I had it to be honest.

  2. Yup. That's how it goes.

So the next song Misery should be also high-energy. I think by anthemic he meant - Nananas:-)
Barker: Yeah, there are like four songs that didn’t make the album that we’re putting on there. But then there are brand-new songs like “Wildfire” and “Parking Lot” and “Misery” that are all so f---ing strong, man. It’s amazing. We started writing maybe a week and a half ago and I think we have 14 songs. It’s a good problem to have. I’m really excited about this deluxe edition. It’s gonna be incredible.
Hoppus: There’s a song called “Misery” that we just wrote and a song called “Wildfire” that are both pretty high-energy, anthemic, huge choruses, I think will go over really well.

Mark also said in that AMA from twitter that Misery was the one from the deluxe he's most excited to get people to hear if I remember right

Also side note, just got home from Musink. Travis ended up playing drums for all of Goldfinger's set. They were actually amazing, John Feldman gets the award for best frontman. So much energy, so funny, and really interactive with the crowd. Definitely the best set of the day.

Really hope John and Travis collaborate on stage more often.

Thanks - I used to have a black one but had to sell it in college to cover bills. My GF got it for me a couple years ago. She saw how bad I missed it.

Yeah man, I still have my TD strat. Got mine on my 15th birthday. It's 15 years old now and its still my favorite guitar I own. Even over my Telecaster JA-90. There's just something about TD strats even though there's really nothing to them hahah.

I was discussing Blink with @Erwin89 And the topic came up; isn't it crazy the difference between promotion for Neighborhoods and California? Mark and Travis seem so much happier and much more involved. Might be why we didn't get any dark Crimson/Untitled songs too.
Mark seems to write dark when he is in that kind of a place (WYHSB, Untitled etc.) with him and Travis seeming so much more happy and involved he's more inclined to write the brighter side Blink songs (I'm ok with both sides either way lol). The difference is just cool between the albums.

Also the band and label did a hell of a lot more promotion on it for too like blink being on GMA playing the live concert. It seemed like blink was everywhere last summer.

  22. I still think that Tom was driving force behind the tones and mood of Neighborhoods. I also think that the band wanted California to be a throwback album, but who knows what the original intentions were.

For better or worse, I agree Tom was the driving force of Neighborhoods mood and tone. And DED was fully his idea if I remember. You can tell the difference between them and California (clarifying I am not saying that's a bad thing). The energy just seems different the in band members this go around, but as Jmam said that has to do with the label too.

As good as S/T is....Blinks energy had been missing since that album until Tom left the band again. The Blink buzz is officially back and it's great.

I also remember in an interview Mark saying he prefers happy music with dark lyrics. Should be interesting what this deluxe album is like. Those guys seem so happy these days, so it'll be interesting.

  25. Has anyone been listening to Parking Lot still ?
