I picked up The Only Ones album after blink recorded their cover of this. Blink still has the best version I think.

 

hahahah not sure if this has been mentioned yet but right before BIOMY played on Sirius XM radio Alt Nation, Mark had a little section before it and it ended with "this song is great, Jesus Christ you guys are lucky"

I listened to We Don’t Need to Whisper the other night because it’d been years and years and I couldn’t remember much about it at all.

It’s bad. Almost embarrassingly bad. The single is fine, and there’s some okay stuff on it, but I was actually pretty surprised by how much I disliked it. (I always thought the long intros thing was an exaggerated AVA criticism, but dang, it’s the truth. At least on that album.)

How did it do critically? What was the reaction from the fans like at the time? I somehow remember so little.

I never loved the +44 album, and I still don’t, but it is way better than WDNTW.

 

I enjoyed +44 and felt it has tied is nicely to all things Mark.

 

Said by whom? Mark or the DJ? I don’t really understand this post.

 

Why is this like the only thread on this site where people feel the need to post in it all day even when there's nothing new to talk about

I like it in here. It’s more of a hate-like, but it’s replaced almost all blink chat locations on the internet for me and there’s always stuff to talk about. “Did you see what mark said?” “Tom was doing this today.” It’s fun.

 

I really wish that Tom would return at least for the anniversary of Enema Of The State. I read somewhere that he said he was eventually going to join the band again, and I really hope that is the case. Matt Skiba is fine but Tom was always the master writer in the group.

This even ignoring the whole "I'm saving the world".

That said, his idea for Modlife was kinda ahead of its time.

 

I haven't listened to A&A in probably 10+ years and the only songs I remember liking on WDNTW were The Adventure, A Little's Enough and Start the Machine. I bought the second album too when it came out but honestly don't remember one thing about it.

I think +44 holds up very well.

 

I made a playlist on Spotify of only the songs I like by Tom (AVA/post-Blink-182) and there's only 15 songs on it.

 

I assume it’s Golden Showers in the Golden State 15 times in row

 

Actually, it's only on there 13 times because I needed to have "It Hurts" be on it twice.

IIRC Zane premiered Rabbit Hole on his show which was the 2nd song released off of California so it would be following the same type of roll out so it makes sense.
