Well, well...this thread is something else today.

 

Pop music is great. The bad pop music they play on alternative radio is not. It’s not 1994 where Kate Bush and Björk were on the airwaves.

Judah and the Lion aren’t even pop, so I don’t hate them for that, but they market themselves as “folk-hop and roll” and that’s a painful phrase to read. My old job played the local Alt station and I’ve heard Take it All Back probably 500 times by now. It’s not even their worst song. I was SHOCKED when Incubus/JEW gave them the opening spot. I booed at them all night from the barricade.

All the Small Things is also a bad song, but this definitely is not the place to say that whoops

 

Matt should quit Blink-182 was up there.

I have a soft spot for Ghost.

Dumpweed is cool but I’ve never been huge on it.

 

But it is 2019 where The 1975, Panic! at the Disco, Billie Eilish, The Interrupters, Halsey, Meg Meyers, Beck, 311, Vampire Weekend, Black Keys, and Blink-182 are ... the radio’s full of popular alternative music just like it’s always been ... and quite a bit of it is good.

 

I came across a video of some dude listening to blink for the first time. He listened to ATST, IMY, and WMAA. I’ll most likely never watch another video of his again, but his genuine reaction to the songs made me appreciate them more/ love them all over again

 

Speaking of pop y’all better listen to the new Carly Rae Jepsen tonight

 

I will never forget falling in love with the band by listening to that opening guitar riff of WMAA for the first time in 1999.
