I remember LP going through the same thing with One More Light and Underoath with Erase Me. Shame.

 

People are such entitled jerks. I couldn't imagine telling someone directly that what they created is bad and that I wish it didnt exist.

 

This honestly makes me like the song even more Haha

 

That LP album is great for pool hangs and the Underoath album is my second favorite of theirs right behind Lost In The Sound Of Separation. I hope Underoath builds on the Erase Me sound.

I was guilty of shitting on OML before Chester passed. I went and gave it a shot after and ended up loving it

 

Same. It's like, they're not "selling out." They're doing what the fuck they want to do. I don't get how people don't just think "Hmm I don't like this band, I'm not going to listen to them anymore. Bye." and then just move on. Listen to one of the millions of Blink clones and live in 2002 forever.

 

I don't know what album it's on, but I heard "Given Up" by Linkin Park randomly come on the radio a few weeks ago and I fell in love with it immediately. I generally disliked every LP song I ever heard in recent years, but that song rips.

 

I just don't even see the point. If you want it to sound a certain way, listen to someone that actually plays the style you want. It's all out there somewhere. God forbid you just don't listen to something you don't like instead of telling the artist to go fuck themselves.

 

Not to be pessimistic, but when did we get so confident that Blink will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame?

 

I feel like Green Day already filled that spot

I'd quote Jay Z and say if you want my old shit buy my old albums but don't want people to know I listen to rap and I'm not a real pop punker.

 

The main thing for me is that 40% of the fun of this music scene for me is going to shows, so if the song doesn't sound like it'll pop off in a live environment or is fun to perform/cover, it severely undercuts my enjoyment of it.

 

Just from the electronic polling machine at the Museum, right? That seems pretty informal. Though it may catch the nominating committee's attention, there's always a chance.

 

They might not get in this year but they absolutely will one day

 

I asked my coworker (who grew up in the midst of the blink-craze in San Diego and never missed a show when they come home) who’s been pooping all over the song, “do you not like it bc you think it’s a bad song or because it’s blink-182 who wrote it?”

They simply said “because Blink-182 wrote it.”. Then proceeded to say “I will not be seeing them for the first time in years.” “What are they doing to this band?” “They have better in them”

Then I asked, “but you’re still going to check out the album right?”. They replied “of course”.

They never once said it was a “bad song”. Simply doesn’t like the change.

 

I can't wait for people to start making posts like "Ok, this song is actually clicking with me and I love it now!" I hope your friend is one of them. And I hope it clicks with him AFTER the band's already played in his town so he regrets the show forever and realizes he was just being a petty poo-poo head! Wah ah ah!

 

Like my first listen was very confused haha. Didn't love/didn't hate. I'm loving it now and even the chorus which was the last thing that had to click.

Not blink related really but I have a friend who gets new music and immediately based off one listen decides what he keeps and what he doesn't. Like I don't think he allows anything to have a chance to grow and I don't get that approach at all

 

He also can’t stand Deck Neep and doesn’t care for Lil Wayne. So that has some to do with it too. He loves Matt Skiba though

 

I enjoy the new song. I do not enjoy the ticket prices this time around. Two tickets for okay seats are ~350.00 as of now. I saw them 2ish years ago in great seats for around 150.00. I wont get to see blink for the first time in a long time.

The most confusing part of this is seeing a lot of people (mostly on Reddit...) act like this band went "downhill" when Tom left......and act as if Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs had been adored. Do these people not remember when those came out? "This sounds too much like AvA/+44", "Bring back the REAL blink", "Blink should have stayed broken up. They've ruined their legacy."

I can't wait until they eventually stop using Feldmann and people start saying "Bring back John :("

 

I think I’ve decided I don’t mind this song as a whole. Not my favorite by any means, and I don’t like it near as much as I liked Bored to Death, but it’s decent. The only part I really don’t care for is the “blame it, blame it on my youth” in the chorus.
