I wonder if this will be a surprise release.

I think Travis may have misinterpretted the question & meant to say we'd have new music (ie, a single) by Warped, not the whole album. I'd love to be wrong though, but why would they need to cancel a festival in June to spend time in the studio just to release it a few weeks later?

Like, there's usually at least a months worth of time after a band wraps a recording where they send it out to get mixed, not to mention all the executive production (album art, music videos, etc.)

Yeah june seems a bit early if they arent finished yet? Either way im hyped! Besides the regular excitement over new blink, im also just genuinely curious of what it will sound like as it seems like it will be different from what they're done before.

    I don’t think they’ll ever do that

I think them cancelling the June Festival and saying it was because of the recording process was a mixture of them possibly not sure if the album would be finished by then and not having enough time to rehearse so they didn't want to cancel at the last minute on the Festival/fans and not give them time for a replacement, the logistics in Travis traveling, Simple Creatures mini tour, them possibly starting up their new album tour around that time and not being able to book shows around that area where it would be easy to get Travis there.

Their Warp show is at the end of June on the East Coast, unless they had a summer tour booked and shows scheduled already on the East Coast it doesn't really make any sense for the band/Travis travel across the country to play just 1 show and then go back home to California.

So the album will be out before warped tour (which i doubt but that's all we know right now), and we can assume the label dont want SC and Blink to release stuff at the same time. So i guess late april would be logical for the first single to drop? That would follow roughly the same release schedule as for Cali. What do you guys think?

Makes the most sense. Single drops last week of April/first week of May. Album comes out on June 7th or 14th. That's my guess.

I'd love some oddly negative defeatist honesty. "Yeah we're having a fun time recording and we hope it's good but I dunno. I mean we're all in our 40s now and live really comfortable lives and basically just do this for fun so the music will lack any kind of edge or purpose you know? Most bands make their best albums when they're young and hungry. We probably peaked creatively about 15 years ago but whatever. We're just doing our best. I hope everyone cuts us some slack. Wait what was the question?"

Travis doesn’t have very good taste in music so him not calling this their best album is the only thing about this cycle that has me the least bit excited

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

It actually amazes me how much I love what he does in blink when I like so little of what he listens to or plays on outside of blink lol

Like if I had no knowledge of blink and someone just played me all his hip hop stuff, it'd just be like "eh what's the big deal"

Still don't get how more people don't think The Only Thing That Matters isn't top tier California. Same with Rabbit Hole

You think so? I get no Enema vibes. Just Dude Ranch.

  21. I get "Don't Leave Me" vibes from it for some reason.

Had to google the lyrics to "TOTTM" to even remember what it sounds like.

Most interesting part of that song is a straight up Reel Big Fish rip off/homage.

I already know all of you are going to say "Blink has never had good lyrics, that's not why we like them" but c'mon:

"'Cause you're the only thing that matters
'Cause you're the only thing that's real
'Cause you're the only thing I'll never let go
'Cause you're the only thing I feel"

All I'm going to say is I really hope the next record has more to it. It already does seem like that from what we know about the next one but, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

"The Only Thing That Matters" is a short, fast, fun, silly little love song and I love it, one of my favorites on the album. Definitely agree with the Enema & Dude Ranch vibes. I remember hearing it for the first time and getting joy out of it that I haven't felt with this band in a long long time.
