I just think Tom brings the creative force and their live shows just aren’t the same without him

 

I'm in the camp of not minding if they became a 4 piece, but I'm smart enough to realize Tom is out of music in the blink sense.

Young Tom is legitimately the poster boy for the skate/punk persona of the late 90s early 2000s. I knew so many people that tried (or didn’t try and still wound up) acting exactly like him.

 

All you haters wait until the sold out Poet Anderson stadium tour which will go down as the best performance in history

I adored Tom back in the day which is why I gave him the edge, but now I can’t stand him. Only reason I said “alright” is because I respect his like for baseball. Everything else about him present day sucks.

I think almost everyone would agree from 2009/reunion on but are you referring to 2003 and the Untitled album? Because that would be an interesting debate.

 

Imagine continuing to hold a grudge against someone you don't know. Man...

 

Ya I'm in that super super tiny camp that looked at untitled as the beginning of the end of blink. I get that people liked it but it's hard for me, personally, to appreciate it because of that view.

 

Imagine thinking that having an opinion on a celebrity is the same thing as holding a grudge. Man...

 

Imagine caring so much about what someone else thinks about Tom Delonge that you judge them for it. Man...

 

I think the obvious answer is that Box Car Racer was the beginning of the end for blink. According to Mark, he felt like the band was over after the TOYPAJ tour cycle ended but no one wanted to admit it or talk about it. Mark has also stated about how Tom wasn't happy even during the TOYPAJ recording process so I think no matter what the band was going to break up sooner or later.

I love the Untitled album but part of me wonders what would have happened if Tom never makes BCR and thus we never get the Untitled album and instead get TOYPAJ Part 2.

 

I think they need to do whatever they can to get him back and do new material.

 

Tom is the best. Fuck the haters.

 

I mean, I like untitled, but I’ve never liked that it had such a strong Tom on vocals focus. It’s clear control of the band was off balance. Maybe Mark was okay with it, I won’t pretend to know. But as a fan, that bothered me, especially since I have always preferred Mark songs.

I think Mark was uncomfortable with the direction of the album (he has even admitted so) and I think Tom definitely took charge of the recording process which is why the album is much more Tom heavy compared to the other albums before it.

 

That's where I'm torn because the impetus for boxcar was probably that he brought those songs to blink and the band/studio shot it down. I thought he would just use boxcar as that alternative instead he wanted to merge it with blink.

I think I would've hated a toypaj 2 but something between untitled and toypaj would be awesome...actually that would just be boxcar haha.
