I'll see you again in 25 years Prestigious

I saw Paul McCartney play a 3 hour set last summer. It was one of the best, most high energy performances I've ever been to. He's 75. Age isn't relevant when discussing good/bad performances imo.

This. They’re a fun band to watch live and have a blast watching. I don’t think anybody here has ever said Blink was actually a very skilled live act.

There's no doubt they used to be a lot better pre 2002 ish. And they were alright until they broke up the first time. But they're certainly no Foo Fighters, Green Day, etc. in terms of live performance.

Blink has always been more of a party band to me. Them and NFG both are. Everytime I turn them on or go to a show it’s nothing but a good time and puts me in a happy place regardless of how they sound. If I’m having a good time and singing a long that’s all that really matters to me concerning those bands. They’re not known for their live performances anyways so they must be doing something right to still be around. Same for a lot of other bands.

I always found it interest to check if Tom was following Mark on Twitter. It was weird how he would follow and unfollow him numerous. Always made me think something was up during those unfollow times.

But I guess that’s the thing now in the 2010s with social media.

Anyway regarding your post I could see how there could be hurt feelings about artists choosing someone else to work with. Unfortunate part of the business.

I'm betting it won't. I'd be very, very surprised if Blink had worked with a single female engineer their entire career. Laura Marling (an excellent British folk artist) did a fantastic podcast series called Reversal Of The Muse where she held conversations with women in the music industry about female creativity and the lack of women in the industry. There are so, so few women working in studios, and even fewer with roles of note like engineers, mixers or producers. Producers often come with their own crew too, so unless Blink pick someone really left field to do the record with (read: not Feldman) and make aavery concious effort, the likelihood is slim to nil.

As an aside, really really recommend that podcast series for anyone interested in this discussion.

Blink are just starting to be barely vocal about political shit (DeLonge campaigning for Kerry aside) and it’s all very tepid basic stuff that hasn’t translated to any action yet. I’m not lauding anything they tweet or say, particularly with Makeout and XXXtantacion and Skiba’s CPD shirt in fresh memory.

  13. They used a female songwriter for at least one song on California. “Bottom of the Ocean.”

Makes me wish +44 had Carol Heller on the actual release. That album is already so good. Can you imagine it with her and Mark exchanging vocals? Man alive.

Perfect female + Hoppus duo was City (Comma) State. They did about 4 songs together and you can find them floating around online.

    Things have changed.

Cool set additions. Laughed real hard at the standard Feeling This, WMAA, Rock Show opening. Old habits are hard to break.
