Listening to CA/DLX today bc I’m actually pretty excited about the residency stuff. Perfect timing for a bachelor party.

i mean, no band is ever gonna say "you know i think what we did last time really worked, we're gonna try and just do that again" haha

 

That should have been their motto with TOYPAJ

 

I mean, I want a great, experimental Blink record as much as the next guy, I'm just super dubious that it'll actually come.

We'll see what happens, but I just don't see any reason why they would experiment. Why risk the renewed success they've had last couple of years? People will still come to shows, they have a formula which will still sell records, can stick with Feldman who they seem to work well with.

Which is all totally fine by the way. More power to them.

 

Honestly as long as Blink-182 puts out new blink-182 music and I find it enjoyable, I’m fine with either of these; even if I do prefer them to experiment

 

I hope this is their trade off, setting themselves up comfortably before Matt goes and does Trio for awhile.

 

Trio could EASILY record and tour with this schedule. There's even a studio at the palms. Trio/blink split EP would be dope and have trio on those shows. Won't happen but pie in the sky and all that...

re: blink gettin "experimental" on the next record - they can get as experimental as they want but if the guitars sound like they did on CA it'll all be for naught.

 

I don't necessarily want an "experimental" Blink album. I just want an organic album by them. Something that is just 100% what the band wants to put out and doesn't necessarily cater to any specific genre, legacy, blah blah blah. Like, just make what you want to make. They have plenty of money to get by for the rest of their lives. Album sales/ticket sales shouldn't be what defines their actual music. Fuck radio plays, downloads, and all that bullshit. They don't need to be concerned with that. Let the smaller bands worry about that stuff, if they want. Blink isn't signed because they don't need to be. They can do whatever they want, and I wish they'd just run with that like how they used to, more or less.

 

The guitar production on CA fucking sucks.

 

Theres a two month gap in that Vegas residency. Making room for a proper tour or dedicating studio time?

 

if they do the same workflow they did for California on the next album, they can have 3 albums done by then.

 

It could be 2-fold. sounds like blink was offered the residency so they could just have booked what was available. Second is that as I said before, this doesn't tie Matt down to being unavailable. He could theoretically fly in while AK3 is on tour or in the studio. Whatever he wants. I can't imagine that didn't go into this - blink can remain active and profitable WHILE Matt is active in 2 bands.

 

I'm getting a hunch that they aren't recording anytime soon. Honestly I'm expecting they record in the fall/winter. Maybe some writing this summer but something makes me feel like they aren't going to be recording anytime soon and I'd be OK with that for now.

 

I like experimental. But then again I think of some of the experimental songs on deluxe and they were stinky. Bottom of the ocean etc

 

Exactly my current thought.

Find some lyrics that have a deeper meaning. I want angsty Mark to come back. I understand I'm 12+ years late on that.

 

I still think a short string of shows on the east coast are gonna happen. At least an NYC show. First they had that big Atlantic City show on the boardwalk in October 2016 that got cancelled because of some huge storm. I think I read that it was supposed to be the biggest show of the California tour at the time with 30k tickets sold. Then they had the Blinkin Park show at Citi Field that obviously had to be cancelled, but again that was at a baseball stadium that could hold 35k people.
I would find it odd if they didn't strike on this obvious demand in the market.

 

Careful, the cancelled shows will trigger @JediMasterKevo182. We gotta watch out for our guy.

 

I am still bitter about mine being canceled.

The blinkin Park shows I totally understand though

 

I was supposed to see them in May 2012 and Travis had a medical emergency that made them cancel my show. I understood, even though I was very bummed

 

But as a music jedi you persevered.
