Also I don't think any kid would classify them as a "punk" band. They're a legacy rock band, which is so weird to me. Akin to the Foo Fighters or RHCP

At the high school of 1,000+ students I attended, I only met two who like blink. Lots of green day shirts though. Others knew of blink, but didn't like them at all because "the potty humor is annoying". I had one guy who was a self proclaimed pop punk afficionado tell me that the band is an annoying frat guy magnet which I thought was funny lol

  3. I will say... Green Day SLAAAAYS Blink live. When I saw them both at the Pop Disaster Tour, I wasn't even a big GD fan, but I was so amazed by their show that by the time Blink came on stage, I was ready to go home because I'd already seen the highlight of the night, haha.

Oh brother haha. I got shit for liking blink because people would only focus on their joke songs and said they were just a joke band.

No one was really mocked for linking blink. There were a few music dorks in HS who were pretentious about shit like that but when it boiled down to it they were probably fans 2 years before.

Blink just kinda doesn't exist to these kids

When I was in high school (2010-2014), I saw waaaay more Blink shirts than Green Day shirts. But, I also live in San Diego

  7. Was there a lot of conversations like this?

"My dad used to work with Mark's dad. I met Mark a couple times."
"Oh yeah? Well, my older brother was friends with Tom! He used to come over all the time!"

(neither of which actually being true, haha)

When I was in high school (2000-2004), I saw way more blink shirts. Should be noted that I graduated right as American idiot came out.

I'm sure you probably met/know tons of people that were fans of the band when they were just called "blink" too.

Wow makes me feel old as hell. I was 10 when that album came out and it was the first cassette tape I bought with my own money. My friends and I played it all the time and watching MTV to try catch one of their music videos. I remember watching their Woodstock performance on TV too. Good times.

I was one of a few in my school who liked blink. I grew up with them at their ‘prime’ so had Enema etc still pretty fresh. One of the only kids who wore blink shirts haha.

Green Day is a way better band than Blink in every way

Blink is still one of my all-time favorite bands but I've never seen how anyone likes them more than Green Day

I love both dearly and fully concede that GD are better musicians, but Blink was the band that got me into music, so they’re always going to be more special to me.

I like them both a lot and would say for the most part Green Day is better but blink was so formative and Dude Ranch through untitled is a series of albums that just do it for me, right in my sweet spot. Only like, Death Cab and Kanye hold similar personal spots for me.

aight fuck you skiba. one of the most corrupt and abusive police departments in the country, which then covered up their endless murder of black Chicago citizens, while going to great lengths to protect killer cops, and you're gonna wear a CPD shirt with a fucking grim reaper on it? fuck absolutely all of that.

Imagine calling someone “butthurt” when they bring up completely legitimate criticisms of a musician you like
