TIL your name isn’t read Brandon’s Man Band. I’ve always just skimmed it without a thought. Huh.

Brad’s One Man Band is an early 2000’s pop punk message board legend

Still wish I had my original copy - had Yellow - someone broke into my locker in HS and stole my discman and my copy of TOYPAJ

I have this release poster a worker at the local record store let me have when my mom took me to buy the CD when it came out. The back side are the guys dressed in their black atticus outfits with a white background. I’ve always loved this poster bc it’s cardboard and technically hangs from the ceiling. I keep meaning to get it framed but it requires a custom frame since the dimensions are weird. It’s held up nicely over the years though. Aside from some signed blink/ava memorabilia, this poster is probably my pride and joy when it comes to this band. Even over Tom’s sig strat haha. F17B691B-B044-4C7B-A0A0-528B465F0FD0.jpeg

Gonna agree with whoever “Shut Up” and “Give Me One Good Reason” can go on and git. Two of my least favorite Blink songs. The rest of the album is great though, but I always felt like this was the band stuck in its Enema sound and needed to evolve past it, which they totally did it with Untitled.

I'll always like Enema more than TOYP because imo the second half of the latter isn't nearly as good as the first half but there are still so many classics on this album

While I agree Give Me One Good Reason is one of the weaker songs on the album it was a lot of fun to hear them play it live.

Please Take Me Home is a great closer too.

Shut Up has an elite bridge. Dope song. One Good Reason is the most flawed song but it doesn’t get in the way, it’s the one song I’d swap out for a bonus track, but then I still think TOYPAJ is about as perfect a release I could ever hope for from blink. I love that record.

Yeah Reason is the only skippable one to me. I enjoy Shut Up. Still crazy how good the b-sides are

If I could relive one show it'd def be when I saw them the month before this came out at Worcester Palladium with Trio and Sum 41. Still have my TOYPAJ shirt and I think the poster is rolled up somewhere

I used to think the lyric “Hate the jocks, the preps, the hippie fucking scumbags, heavy metalers with their awful pussy hair bands”
was super edgey when I was a youngster.

Used to rewind and replay that part a lot. Same for parts in Reckless Abandon and Shut Up.

I used to think to myself “wow! These guys don’t care at all! Rad!”

  13. I think the biggest problem with "Give Me One Good Reason" is the fact that it's obviously Tom trying to write a "Blink-182 song." It just makes the whole song seem really insincere and cringey. Similar to how I feel about the majority of California.

Tom has never sounded older than when he says he likes kids that listen to “the punk rock.”

Musically it’s totally fine, the lyrics are rough even for blink.

I forgot about that one, was it a b-side from California or something ?

I love Shut Up but I think it’s mostly from the instrument side. If I sat down and analyzed the lyrics, it’s pretty lame. Great running song for sure. Great album!

EDIT: In a live setting: they need to retire First Date and continue to play Rock Show.

Hey I’m Sorry was a Japanese b side to California. Parking Lot was on California Deluxe album (so was Hey I’m Sorry).

I put on TOYPAJ on my way into work this morning. Man, I said this before but I think it's a low point for the band in terms of lyrics. Some of the catchiest, biggest songs they've made but the lyrics fucking suck haha. There's something so stilted about the way they attempt to rhyme. "Fed the dog the brownie drug". Dear lord.

The rebuttal is always that they're not a band known for their lyrics or what about the dog fucking song or whatever but like...I'll 100% take them over some of the shit they try to pull on here.
