I was going to derail this gushing over BCR. Lol I only really knew "I Feel So" back in the day, but catching up on others. Today I discovered Watch the World from this, but when I heard the final version, I was thinking about the other new discovery "There is". I knew I liked the song, but when I heard it again and watched the video in full, I mean, I literally shed a couple of tears. It's just so beautiful! I mean everything, not just my favor of Tom, but also Travis's drumming, the acoustic guitar factor, the lyrics, the video storyline and the rain. :) Ok, done gushing. :D

I'll be honest, I cannot name a band Feldmann has worked with recently that have improved. Happy to be proved wrong but I feel like every band ends up with a weak guitar tone, too many "ooh oooh" moments, and lots of average co-writes. My only thought is State Champs last album was probably their most consistent.

I’m not super familiar with Feldmann’s work outside of blink and Good Charlotte but I’d say NINE was an improvement over California, not sure if that counts though.

  4. Two bands that absolutely improved with Feldy from what had come right before.

Sleeping With Sirens' "Madness" was a spectacular follow-up to their mediocre "Feel" but other than that... idk chief.

It's all subjective, but I enjoy 'Neighbourhoods' as a whole compared to their recent efforts.

  7. I don’t.

The Used's new album is also pretty good. I don't remember their previous album well enough to compare, tho

I have nothing against Feldy but Youth Authority was big time disappointment for me after Cardiology for some reason.I guess Iam in minority but I literally can’t stand one of the features there ( I guess it was a guy from Sleeping With Sirens?) and that’s all I remember from that album lol

  13. It’s the only Good Charlotte album I’ve liked since I was in high school.

Can’t listen to that record in one sitting. I like some songs, but i hate the production and i’m not a fan of that Tom era at all.

I’ve always liked Feldmann’s production. I actually own his tonehub preset pack, one of which is based on bored to death/california and it sounds great. Also own his EZdrummer bundle, and that also sounds amazing.

  15. That’s how I am. I can cherry pick some good stuff, but as a whole it’s just .. a slog. It has the problem of exacerbating the stuff I hate the most about AVA and Tom right now, I just don’t like that kinda music with those vocals. It grates on me.

I really don’t like either of those records, or the ones that came before them, so maybe that is a different issue haha.

Obviously I'm a Tom guy, and I fully realize that Neighborhoods doesn't live up to the potential of what a follow-up to the self titled album could have been, but it's far ahead of California and NINE for me. I do enjoy NINE a good deal though.

As whole albums, Youth Authority is so much better than Cardiology. I think Cardiology has a few really good tracks though.

I agree on the new Used. I do feel the Canyon has some good songs on there, but there is also a lot of like filler. It's grown on me, but I don't think it's one of their best albums. I think Heartwork is pretty great though!

It was. Don’t remember what exactly it was (atoms?). I remember it from the episode that he was on Nerdist.

Yeah Neighborhoods is not one I throw on start to finish, but usually love when a track from it will pop up on a playlist. Like tonight After Midnight came on - that was one I don’t think I really fully appreciated at the time, but has become one of my favorite Tom / Mark songs.

Oh and Wishing Well till I die! The lyrics are so incredibly Tom-stupid, but that is just a fun song.

At night I listen to Neighborhoods more. I do dig the album more now than I did back in 2011. I still dug it then, but now it’s a different level of appreciation. Same goes for the Dogs Eating Dogs EP.

The only two songs I ever return to from Neighborhoods are After Midnight and Even If She Falls. The production is also atrocious on that album. I remember them dropping that first version of Hearts All Gone that sounded like a demo and everyone pretty much bullied them into mixing it better haha
