Sounds like a demo from nine to me. Maybe one of the ones that sounded too close to California for them.

 

Doesn't look like there's much information out there on that track, but I agree. If I had to guess, I'd say it was an unfinished Nine demo. It does vaguely sound like some of the Deluxe portion of California to me, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's why they scrapped it.

 

Pretty boring song.

 

I liked it, would be interesting in hearing a 2nd verse.

Are there any versions out there without the little skips in the song?

 

Def see why this song may not have gone anywhere. Another mid-tempo song with guitar riffs like San Diego, No Future, Misery, SOOHM, and Don't Mean Anything. Plus another low-register Mark verse with a soaring/anthemic Skiba chorus just like their other mid-tempo songs (San Diego, Misery, Hey I'm Sorry). Still enjoying it though. I love listening to unfinished or scrapped material.

Skiba's chorus is catchy and the beats are cool even though they sound doinky haha.

Would be cool to see a bunch of people add their own feature in the 2nd chorus since there isn't one haha.

 

I’m going to be in the minority here, but I like this demo and would love to hear a final version. It feels like it could be a bside on a Blame It On My Youth single (or fit on a double album that was called Nine/Ten).

 

Verse two is just asking for someone to drop a Tom vocal track on it.

 

Definitely why it reminded me of the deluxe tracks from California. They tend to fall into this pattern/formula. Also, as soon as I heard the chorus melody, I immediately thought it was reminiscent of Goldfinger.... That's also something that happened a small handful of times on California and didn't really happen at all with Nine.

 

How many California/nine riffs are just a tweak on Adams song or man overboard. I love those original riffs but it's getting a little stale...

I have a feeling they wrote this song for the collab ep with the way the track transitions into and after the second verse.

 

I could see that making sense. Maybe they sent it out to people (artists/other management) and that’s how it leaked.

Curious what happened with those extra songs that would make up the EP they talked about.
