I actually don't mind this. Nothing special, but it's not bad or anything.

 

The bridge and the different harmonies are definitely cool. Pretty on par with the album one overall, just cause musically this version is a little more busy I think

 

Hearing this makes me think it was given to Miley first and the song didn’t work out. Something’s just a little off?

Edit: Although in the album version when they say “I love you, but I hate you” at roughly 1:20 I’ve always thought I heard a female voice in there.

 

Just listened to NINE for the first time a few months today, and it still holds up! Very enjoyable listen. Not a fan of the Miley version of Hated You though.

I don't mind Miley's voice but the Mark/Skiba harmonizing on the original song is my favorite part of this album.

 

I actually don't mind this version. I would take this over the original if only they kept Skiba doing the ending vocals.

It sounds to me like they probably made the song first, pitched it to her, and this is a rough version just to hear how they could work her in (but scrapped it for whatever reason).

The mix sounded pretty busy. Her harmonies were cool but I honestly thought they distracted from the main melody too much.

the pre-chorus and outro sound a little funky, but other than that i think its alright

Seeing as they did the Enema tour in the US and have skipped the UK/Euro tour this year due to the current pandemic, I’d be happy having a TOYPAJ tour next year.
