I think he meant that there aren’t any songs they demoed that didn’t make the album as one of the questions in a previous days chat was if there are any songs they demoed that didn’t make the album.

Mark did mention that he never thought of releasing anniversary albums with B-sides and demos but that’s something he would look into. So maybe there’s hope after all. I doubt it but at least there are fans planting the seeds in his head and he’s aware of everything.

 

Supposedly, there's 2 or 3 songs that didn't make the album on the Dude Ranch demo tape. Honestly, I'd be willing to bet Mark just doesn't remember what all is on their earlier demos. I'd love to hear those songs, assuming they exist. But I'd be stoked to hear all of those demos, even if there isn't unreleased songs.

 

I wish they liked doing things like acoustic eps or rarities anniversary release. Even another live album would be appreciated since they're five albums deeps since TMTATS.

 

Nine Deluxe would be the first want on my list. Then Songs they were working on that didn’t get used for California. Then if there are any leftover songs from any eras that haven’t been released or something along those lines.

 

Yeah we really need a 23 year anniversary deluxe edition of Dude Ranch with those demos all remastered.

 

Someone asked him why "Carousel" wasn't on Flyswatter, and his response was "It wasn't?" haha. So yeah, I don't know that he really has a super accurate account of everything that went on back in the day, but I don't blame him. There could have been a song or two that they worked on for one day, recorded a shitty demo, and then scrapped and never thought about again. Especially when you have two main songwriters in the band working on separate ideas.

There's also no reason to think (at the time) that people are going to be obsessed with your band and finding every little idea you ever recorded. So it's not like all of these random recordings mean a ton to them.

Poor decision to scrap the Miley version of RWIHY. Mark's voice is too low for the choruses, would've sounded great to have the chorus have him going low and Miley going high.

Also I just realized, there was never a music video for this? So the only song from Nine that got a music was Darkside, which they said technically wasn't a single and never sent to radio? And now we got a music video for Happy Days, which was released almost a year ago at this point. God the roll out for this album was so weird lol.

 

Generational Divide had a video too albeit a 50 second one lol

 

They Miley clip does sound pretty great.

 

A lot of The music by artists that blink collaborate with just isn’t my cup of tea. Steve Aoki, Miley Cyrus, Lil Wayne, etc. I don’t like anything by them.

 

The Steve Aoki song would have been great as just a Blink song without his beats. Otherwise, it just feels like a remix.

I only know who Miley is for her crazy antics and not her voice. As an alt version I would check out the song because I'm guessing she must be a good singer and because Mark's voice with Carol was cool on her all to brief work with +44.

 

I feel like I’m alone in this but I thought the Aoki song was pretty great. It’s so tricky blending so much of a full band sound into electronic music, but they were able to get it to somehow sound like blink while still managing to be super dancey. And it was really catchy on top of that.

 

It does sound really Blink to me, but like a weird remix. I really like the Mark and Matt shared vocals, and Travis always adds the right amounts of drum beats.

If they do release a Blink deluxe, I hope there’s an Aoki-less version. Nothing against him, but I am not into his music/contribution on this song.

Worth checking out for Miley’s harmonies but I think I’ll stick to the original.

I could see it being like the Dua Lipa remix of Brockhampton’s Sugar where it was the original, then it leaked, then they put it up anyway

 

Now that Nine has been out for while, where are you guys placing it in their overall discography?
