  4. I haaaate that blink uses vocal backing tracks. In what world does that make you sound better?? It’s like that Untitled blizzcon show all over again.

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Yeah Blizzcon is exactly what I thought of. But they don't use full vocal tracks. I really wanna know what screw up happened here. I mean it didn't sound better, it was a mess. I imagine they know that lol

  7. At least they played the cult favorite “all the small things.” Finally deviating from that greatest hits set we’re all sick of.

I think Mark is primarily driven by the financial result of most blink decisions, which is fine and fair! I don’t think he really considers much else. When the first break up happened he basically had the rug pulled out from under him, and I’m sure that was a scary feeling. Basically this thing that his entire lifestyle depends on was just done. But then Neighborhoods came about, wasn't wildly successful, and then the second split.

the greatest hits set makes him money. Why play longer than 90 minutes when the status quo is enough? The most recent records were successful. The xxx collab puts their name into another demographic of folks.

I think the one thing we can always depend on Mark for is the safe, vanilla, money making decision.

This popped up in my Facebook memories today. Me with some of my good friends at their reunion tour back in 2009

Watched 30 seconds of that live stream. Tom is so easily heard. It’s not subtle at all. Mark smiles when it first happened. Was this on purpose? What the hell is going on? It sounded so bad.

holy shit at the Tom backing track vocals lol. i remember you could hear them a tiny bit in that original WMAA x A Milli video and it was funny, but they are absolutely overpowering in this live stream. i can only hope it was poor mixing on the live stream and not quite as apparent in the room.

  12. Positives: mark’s bass sounds the best it has in 20 years lately and I’m SO SO happy about it
Matt looks like he’s having a blast
Matt pinfield rocks ass. Good interview in just 4 minutes. Dude knows his shit
    Mark’s Disneyland shirt rules
The transition into rock show was a nice surprise. Those are the things I miss blink doing live. Gimme more of that and I’ll never cringe at backing tracks. Those glimpses of the band being a band are always fun
Marks bass sounds just fucking awesome
I’m not a huge fan of the new red bass. When I came out with it at the Halloween ball I thought it was just to go with the joker motif. I’ve since seen the artists work and I guess it’s just not for me. Shit this is supposed to be positives. The bass sounds amazing.
Watching Travis play IRWIHY is fun as hell. Love watching Travis have fun playing
My 4 year old just came in while I had this playing on the tv and he says to me “that guy with the beanie is Travis Barker!” And then he sees mark and says “hey I met that guy with the hair like this!” And he holds the front of his hair up. Haha
Sick outrun background during first date. I don’t get the connection but I love the aesthetic.
Ooh I kinda like the black scribbly-art bass. aaaaand my son is singing along to darkside. I love it
Idk you guys. Way more offensive than the backing vocals was the laggy playback of this show recording
I wasn’t there but I’m gonna pretend mark was waving to me and my family at the beginning of dammit

They seemed to use the backing track a lott more on Skiba than Mark, not to say they didn't on Mark at all. Skiba's mic also seemed to be turned down way lower than Mark's

Skiba also seemed a little off in the post interview. Was the dude trashed?

I imagine it's easier for them to try and match the tuning of the vocal than actually try and stay in tune without it. Thats the only reason I can think as to why the vocal tracks are there. At least I find it easier to find a note vocally when the actual vocal itself is there.

I just don't even know how the band could keep playing when the backtrack was off by like half a second during Bored to Death lol it's like using a speech jammer

  16. that's definitely why they do it, but man it sounds like shit when they do that. these songs aren't that hard to sing, come on Blink! hahaha

i haven't laughed in a really long time and i made it through feeling this and this is the funniest thing i've seen in a while. i feel like the sound dude was just fucking with them and for the last chorus matt just gave up singing and tom's vocals didn't came back in until the end. i have to watch this whole set because this is comedic gold.

maybe this is one of those things where someone making a mistake was actually on purpose in a universal sense and something happens with tom soon. i know it means nothing but it's more interesting to me to think that way.

    Assume It's A Bit

I don't understand why the backing tracks aren't just in their IEMs? There's quite a few bands I know that use studio vocals in their monitors for reference (especially if there's more than one vocalist so if one of them is off, the other has a reference for where they should be)

So I used to play in a metalcore band, with some synths and bass drops backtracked. Our drummer was the only one who had in-ears, and he had a click with some other guitars & vocals going to his ears for reference, while just the extra stuff went out to the PA. Once or twice, shit was fuckin up & everything was coming through both ways, so we'd say fuck it and play without the click/tracks. I feel like this is basically what happened here but to a way bigger scale, which is annoying as fuck.

Yep, that definitely seems to be what happened although it makes you wonder what the guys were hearing on stage and how noticeable it was to them that Tom's vocals were audible to the crowd. They clearly reacted to it and knew something was messed up, but I am just curious what all they were actually hearing around them, in their in-ears, etc.
