Honestly it is pretty interesting. I wonder what his thoughts are on these.

Travis still seems to be the only one acknowledging the XXX song at this point. Not even the official blink page has.

So I can confirm it’s not just Travis on the track...

EDIT: I didn’t listen to the whole song, but I fast forwarded until I heard Mark.

Yeah I scrolled thru the song too.... Definitely didn’t seem like anything I would want to put my name on even if it WASN’T with a piece of shit person. Makes it even more disappointing TBH

Matt’s featured as a guest vocalist on 18 or so tracks. It looks like the only one since joining Blink is the Steve Aoki song they did (which I still wish also existed as a Blink only version).

*Note: not taking any side, just throwing out some facts I found*

So I did a little research to try and put a timeline together. I do think it's odd they promoted every other collab except this one (to my knowledge), so I checked the XXX wikipedia page.

According to the wiki page for the record, apparently it "was initially planned as XXXTentacion's debut album, with a slated release date of October 31, 2016." So this may have been recorded way back then.

The robbery / assault with a deadly weapon thing happened in July 2016. The domestic abuse thing happened in October 2016.

So there is a chance that this was recorded before all that shit happened, and it's not up to them if it got released because they might not have any rights to the recording. Which may explain why the band didn't promote it at all except dumb dumb Travis. But again, who knows.

A band with the money that they have could have EASILY challenged it. Even if that's the case, coming out and saying "hey we tried to stop this from happening but weren't successful" is a hell of a lot more respectful than just silence.

Even if your timeline is correct and there was nothing prior to 2016 on him being a trash human (which I doubt), the simple situation is that your name is still attached to a song on this album. If it were me, I would make a statement of some kind to hold myself accountable for it.

I am sure they think staying silent and letting it pass is the best solution because a majority of fans will never know and they'd think bringing this up would tarnish their name on a wider scale .. but jesus christ. There are still many people that know and are extremely frustrated and disappointed by all three of them for their complete lack of accountability, statement, and awareness of profiting off a fucking piece of shit like this.

Or the royalties on Buddha - Dude Ranch are enough to live off of? :explode:

The Christmas song sucks and I'm starting to feel ashamed for continuing to support this band.

I would bet a lot of money that Blink did not record this in 2016 and instead were added (like many of the featured artists on the album) to the scraps of these songs after he died (like a lot of posthumous releases). Especially considering the fact that Travis continues to throw praise at XXX.

Even if that far-fetched scenario did occur, which again, is highly, highly doubtful, as @Donnie Ruth and @Ben Lee already mentioned, they could have easily challenged the release or at the very minimum released a statement.

Oh I absolutely agree. I wish they'd have said SOMETHING about it rather than just staying silent and hoping it blows over. Who knows if there's any legal shit involved behind the scenes, but part of me wonders if that's why this Christmas tune just so happened to be released today too, maybe to help overshadow it.

I think this is definitely why they released and are promoting the Christmas song today. The silence on XXX has to be intentional. They always heavily promote everything they release.

Yep. With this and the Chainsmokers tune both coming out today too, there's plenty to distract away from the XXX tune. Just wish they'd actually address it :/

Travis is the only one acknowledging it. All of the official blink pages are silent.

I don't think it's that easy. Sometimes recording for another artist's project is considered a "work for hire" and Blink would have no creative control on how their part gets used. I remember when Bon Iver was featured on that Eminem song last year Justin was very vocal that he recorded that hook for Mike Will and didn't want it on the final product.

The second point you bring up is still sound, though. All it would take is one quick tweet, "we did not want this coming out."

I bet Mark & Matt have their opinions on the matter but are staying silent to not upset their friend Travis.

Also I listened to the Chainsmokers song, not terrible. Also led to me realize that Amy Shark is featured on another song on their album, go check out that song/her if you haven't already!

Never really listened to the Chainsmokers before, but their singer sounds like he wanted to be in a pop punk band in the early aughts.
