  1. I was thinking that "Bojmir" was maybe thrown around earlier this year when they were recording different songs. Per their interviews, Mark was saying that at some point they basically threw everything away and started over. We got NINE out of that.

Parents were able to snag me a copy of NINE from a CD store in Edinburgh, Scotland...wanted a Vinyl but will take a CD!

Hope it’s that feldy “solo project song” lol

  6. It's Sept 25th in Japan in 1 hour! So we will most likely hear it by the end of the day, or as soon as someone's CD rip makes its way to us.

I wish Blame it On My Youth had been a hit.

They should've made a damn video.

I believe in this song dammit.

Not sure where they were getting it, but a thread on Reddit was referencing some site that said "Music and Lyrics by Mark Hoppus" so it was believed to be another all Mark song. Glad that doesn't seem to be the case!

I think the roll out and single selection is what might hold this album back from performing even better. I don’t have performance numbers between these and “BTD”, but it seems this build up was missing a “BTD” level lead single. This build up definitely didn’t have fan approval like BTD did until the album leaked and came out lol.

    Things have changed.

The album was also not done when it came time to release a first song – and a second song – unlike California. Had they stuck to the original release, you'd have had a better rollout but likely a worse album.

Good point. I wonder what else was finished and what wasn’t.

Would've preferred one of the more upbeat NINE songs for the MNF thing, like Darkside or Pin the Grenade, but oh well.

My first single choice would probably be Darkside but I understand not all songs were done or something.

But Blame It On My Youth didn't even have a video. Just a lyric video.

And that song rules, it's not their fault some of the fans decided to shit on it.

In contrast Green Day released a lyric video, they performed on Kimmel and then a music video all in succession.

EDIT: For MNF I think I would've gone with Darkside as well because it's probably a better "live song".

The songs/album they scrapped could be really great too. It’s the same group of people. I would love to hear some of them, and maybe they’ll trickle out if they are complete on the EP or as a deluxe.

I kind of wish they had a different title for Emo Shit. That song is so good but I feel like people wrote it off/will write it off because of the title.

This rollout is the worst I can think of in recent memory. I don't really care now that it is out. My expectations were pretty low before the album leaked. I was blown away when I did the first playthrough. I think BIOMY was an awful choice as a stand-alone track to give an idea of the tone and sound of the album, but I LOVE it in the context of the album. I pretty much feel that way with every single released before the album dropped. (Besides Happy Days)

I think PTG, Heaven, First Time, or No Heart, would have been really smart first song drop choices, and then IRWIHY as a proper first single would have had a lot of buzz. Fans would have accepted the co-written songs if they knew those songs were contrasted by the bangers that everyone seems to love. It seems like a lot of the best songs weren't ready and they picked the best one they had at the time.

@Zeke do you know the length of "Out Of My Mind"? I thought I read somewhere it was like 2:30ish?

Those are the people that don't listen to albums though. I don't think anyone really picks songs based on their titles these days. There are single / playlist people and folks that still appreciate playing a new release front to back when it drops.

Yeah, I can't really tell other than the songs that were done with producers other than Feldmann.

In that interview that was posted yesterday, Mark does mention that at least "Black Rain" and "Darkside" came out of earlier sessions so we know they didn't scrap absolutely everything. So to that point earlier, they could have ran with "Darkside" as the single from the beginning but who knows.

I meant how people when seeing the title automatically assumed it was a joke song.
