A lot of the verses on this album remind me of Weatherman from +44

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

It's funny to me how a popular internet insult since Skiba joined is "this is just +44" whereas in here that's like our highest compliment, like "yeah throw plenty of +44 in our blink please" haha

  5. LOL, and as the person that's been leading the "gimme Crimson era electronic sounds in my Blink" charge, I approve.

A friend of mine legit refuses to call them “blink-182” and changed the files and album art to “+44” lol.

  7. Man those apple shampoo harmonies are SO GOOD! Thanks for the heads up about what was special about this show. It should also be noted that tom "jokingly" quits the band at the end of the song. INTERESTING!! haha

I will say, this is the most I've connected with a blink-related release since +44's album.

Back in their heyday, blink's relatability was what drew me to them. Sure, it was about girl troubles, being immature, not fitting in, etc. but I was a pre-teen/teenager so it worked. With Neighborhoods, that kind of disappeared. Their lyrics were more...artsy? Tom was singing about Adam and Eve or telling a story while Mark's were all abstract and all over the place ("Blackjack and architect; Let's drink ourselves to death" sounds cool, but I have no idea what it means)

California was obviously a throwback to the good ol' days, and it definitely accomplished that with the actual sound. Of course there are a handful of meaningful/relatable lyrics, but for the most part that album tried to capture the things they used to sing about (suburban youth, California, joke songs, etc.) That's cool, but those same things don't land the same way to someone in their late 20s as they did to a 13-year-old.

With Nine, it's the first time in a long while where I actually feel like I connect with Mark as a person again. He sings about things that I actually deal with as a grown adult and things that are going on around us in this day and age. It's refreshing but at the same time does an awesome job of reminding me why I started listening to this band in the first place.

Wonder if he had his manager send a 'page' to Mark and Travis' beeper, or were faxes now a thing in 1998?

Every day I wake up it’s just HEY WAIT PIN THE GRENADE and ANGEL WINGS AT THE BUS STOP on constant loop in my head.

On Some Emo Shit and Hunover On You have also become my top two. They’re so great back to back.

    They’re like the +44 songs I didn’t know I needed.

  14. Heaven, Black rain, pin the grenade, and no heart to speak of are pretty much cemented as my top 4.

The back run of the album is just so good... I have a tough time even comparing another run in any of their albums.

  19. I still need to dive into "the first time" and "on some emo shit" more. Those are the 2 that i'm still not totes in love with, i think.

EDIT: still not in love with "happy days" either, but that's just because it feels more like a song that would have fit on California, i think. it's aight.

Jammed the album on my 45 minute commute to a meeting. This damn album just flows and keeps your attention. They definitely wrote an “album”.

Learn them on guitar. Might help your case. This the first album since Untitled where I wanted to learn every single song on guitar.

On Some Emo Shit might be my favorite Blink song since possibly even before my favorites from Neighborhoods. It just works for me 1000%, and that bridge is straight from Untitled.
