I meeeeean, if you take out the singles, this is more or less their set, and it isn't that bad:

    Cynical
    Anthem Pt 2
    Built This Pool
    Dumpweed
    Reckless Abandon
    Kings of the Weekend/Wendy Clear
    Violence
    Sober
    Happy Holidays
    Family Reunion
    Dysentery Gary
    Los Angeles

That alone looks like a pretty decent setlist. It pulls a couple deep cut songs from all of their popular albums with some joke songs thrown in.

They could alternate 4 or 5 of those with some other non-singles, like Going Away To College, Roller Coaster, Stockholm Syndrome, or even something off Neighborhoods. Even on their tour last summer, the set was a little different. They played Not Now, Stay Together For The Kids, San Diego, and Carousel some nights.

The "problem" is that they just have so many singles! This would be their setlist with just the singles:
    Feeling This
    The Rock Show
    What's My Age Again?
    First Date
    Bored To Death
    Down
    I Miss You
    She's Out Of Her Mind
    All The Small Things
    Dammit

And even then, they aren't playing M+M's, Josie, Adam's Song, Not Now, or Stay Together For The Kids, which were all singles. If they always played those, that would probably mean that they'd take off 5 non-singles in order to keep the set at 90 minutes, which they seem to not want to deviate from.

    tl;dr: It could be worse.

Unless you're Liam Gallagher and walk off stage mid-song at like the 19 minute mark of your lollapalooza set. Hahaha

Should definitely swap Down out with a different single but otherwise I get it and I don't really have any complaints. Always have a great time seeing them.

Obviously would love deep cuts but the fact that they're playing Dysentary, Dumpweed, Anthem Pt 2 and Wendy Clear pretty regularly is awesome compared to the first few times I saw them

So, time to bracket the setlist songs? :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:

  5. Yeah, I'm not sure why they even play "Down." It's a lull in the set, for sure.

  14. haha well i mean, they are playing 10 singles and about 10 non-singles. that doesn't sound too bad. they've been switching out a handful of the non-singles, which is pretty much exactly what we're all saying they should do. it's just that they make a setlist for each tour and then they don't really deviate from it, so there's really no surprises by the middle or end of the tour.

I can't really defend a ton about their setlist at this point but I never pay more than 30 bucks to just sit on a lawn when they come here so technically I get my money's worth. People who pay a ton have a decent reason to gripe haha.

That's fine that they're playing mostly singles, but at least rotate the singles. Throw STFTK, Josie, M&Ms, Always, After Midnight, Adam's Song or Man Overboard in every now and then.

Also they didn't always play the exact same setlists like everyone else is saying. I went to 3 different stops of the 2009 reunion tour and each show there were at least 2 different songs in the setlist. I also remember the TOYPAJ tour I went to 2 shows that summer and again got some different deep cuts.

Hmmm yeah actually just looked at the setlists from 2009 and 2011 when I saw them and they were both great lol

It doesn't help that a chunk of the setlist goes to California songs and those songs mostly aren't as good

I only really want to hear Bored To Death, She's Out Of Her Mind and Cynical out of the ones they play. But if they threw in Rabbit Hole, San Diego or The Only Thing That Matters I wouldn't mind the California songs in the set haha

I realized that after I said it. You caught it before I could edit it lol.

I should have said "I disagree with you, I am glad they put California songs on the setlist and I like to hear them."
