does anyone remember how far in advance California leaked? feel like most albums i'm looking forward to nowadays only wind up leaking a day or two early lately.
now that i'm thinking about this, i do remember the awful commotion of someone getting California early and drip feeding 1 song at a time before reddit and wherever else basically bullied them until they stopped. aye yi yi.

for Japan at least albums can be quite expensive over there (like paying over $20 for an album you might pay about $10-$12 in the west) so the Japanese bonus tracks is an extra incentive as in some cases, it might be even cheaper for people in Japan to import albums from the west than to buy them domestically

 

I think California leaked 1 or maybe 2 weeks before the scheduled date. Records do not seem to leak as early as they used to.

 

Some still leak pretty early. But these days I think most leak the day before or so. Basically as soon as the album hits digital platforms outside of the US since that's usually they day before the US release. And that is technically not a leak, but you get it. But that means that we will get to hear the album on Sept 19th, if it doesn't leak earlier. So that's kinda cool, if you're into that kinda thing.

 

Just checked, Cali leaked a week early. But yeah, if it ”leaks” on the 19th i guess i could wait til the 20th and listen when i get of work, haha.

 

I normally would wait for the Friday, but since I'm leaving for a week long cruise that Sunday and have a wedding to attend Saturday, I might listen to a leak on the Thursday just to get some listens in since I don't know how often I'll get to listen while away. And then 2 weeks after my ears will be with the new Menzingers.

 

I shall not wait....

Unless the reward is greater through waiting, but if not...no waiting. With music, it never changes. I just end up waiting longer.

Doing a Boston to Bermuda with my girlfriend! It'll be fun since I did one cruise before in like 7th grade and she's never gone before. Both being over 21 now is quite sweeeeeet!

 

That’s awesome! Have fun! Bermuda is on my cruise to list, planning on doing it in the next couple of years. I have a friend who goes regularly, and he loves it there, so I’m sure you’re in for a good time!

 

I’m so curious as to what this full record will sound like, I’ve been obsessed with Darkside since it’s release. Such a great track. The others haven’t really pulled me yet.

 

I will not listen to an album leak.

Must be the Richard Cheese version people have mentioned that they play it when they are walking back to the stage after the acoustic set. So basically blink is not playing. It's just a song being played over the speakers
