My friend the other day was talking about how American Idiot was overrated (I disagreed heavily with that).

We then went track by track and every single god damn track he said “oh yeah this is actually great.” This album rules. The concept they went with was timely and fantastic. The songs were bold. And it still holds up nearly 15-16 years later.

Jesus of Suburbia is up there for my favorite song by any band.

Seeing Green Day on that American Idiot tour was a TREAT.

Do they though? Apparently they play up to 3 hours, but play nearly the same amount of songs that blink does, 1/4 of their setlist is covers, and they like to drag out some songs. I mean is a 10 minute version of everlong necessary?

I’m good if a band does one or two jams/extended versions live. Obviously I’m a big Bruce fan but Death Cab did a killer extended We Looked Like Giants jam when I last saw them and during a costume change Carly Rae Jepsen’s band did a dope ass electronic/sample based live jam.

Blink isn’t suited for it though.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I am absolutely fine with a 10 minute version of Everlong tbh. best radio rock song of all time

  19. I think there’s an early Blink pic of Mark wearing a Kerplunk shirt.

Tonight was fun as hell. Lil Wayne absolutely stole the show and the crowd was turnt up his entire set. Straight fire for an entire hour.

blink was good as usual, but being the third outdoor amphitheater tour I’ve seen them on since Cali dropped, everything felt scripted and super samey.

Loved hearing EOTS in full even though the crowd had blank faces during the deeper cuts on Enema and songs like Wasting Time. BIOMY was also played to a dull reaction.

All in all a very fun night and I hope these mixed lineups continue.

Blink should bring Tom back just to record the I Miss You electric version with the outro.

That version in 2003/2004 is one of the best things they did.
