I’m going to love this album forever.

I’d like to say if you love this you should also check out Alabaster DePlume, on the great Chicago jazz label International Anthem. Just announced a new record this week, but his last record in particular To Cy and Lee: Instrumentals Vol 1 is excellent. Check out “Whisky Story Time”, one of my favorite songs of 2020.

It’s rare that I yearn for a band to go long like this (because it’s a gift to do it and do it well, consistently). Give me every 7-13 minute BCNR song.

Am I losing my hearing or is this really quiet? I have to turn the volume up significantly more than other albums on Spotify

Album is really incredible, blown away by this. There’s so many small details and I love how they sound so cohesive but at the same time you could get lost in any one of the instruments just focusing on any of them alone

kinda know what you're saying although I have that experience a lot on spotify, it has some weird fucking levels

bought this off bandcamp and it's a little bit quieter than I'm used to but in a really nice way. feels like an old-school production/mix

i only had time to listen once but I kept having to turn it up because it was too quiet and then it would get too loud and I would have to turn it down. Felt like a Nolan movie

The intro to Chaos Space Marine is like Dave Matthews Band but cooler

only thing other than this I've managed to listen to in the past week (plus?) is the new Circa Survive EP, Saba, Rolo Tomassi and some Jockstrap

what a record, but also, what a fucking month for music holy shit

Theres actually a lot of DMB on this record. (I like early DMB).

love having to wait 7 minutes in for a song to get going and then have it end 45 seconds later

where the hell was the urgency from the first album? perhaps this is why most bands don't release albums one calendar year apart, taking time to write actually helps

This is a weird comparison I guess but “Snow Globes” is like they took Mew’s “Comforting Sounds” and just went in a totally different direction, painted it black, made it darker and more tense.

I love those drums too, they make the song sound so risky like it’s gonna fall apart any second. What a track.

The fact that they have the confidence to not have to rely on that urgency on this album and still make it sound so damn good is what makes this, I think.

    Absolute belter of a release!

    All-time bad take.

to be fair, the (local) guy who introduced me to the band prefers the first album.

    I am flummoxed.
