We don’t deserve this band - Adrianne Lenker may be my favorite modern vocalist

 

This is probably my favorite of their albums

 

I didn’t think it was possible for them to write something else as beautiful as Betsy but the ending of Replaced/Cut My Hair comes REAL close for me

 

I’m blown away by how good this. I mean, I probably shouldn’t be, given how consistent they are, but the fact that they put both this and UFOF out in the same year is unbelievable.

 

So damn good. This band is so special. They are the best band in the world right now. That’s not hyperbole.

This is like Radiohead circa OK Computer and Kid A, Kanye circa MBDTF and Yeezus, TV on the Radio circa Cookie Mtn and Dear Science, or Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange and Blonde.

Just top of their craft.

 

This is fucking insane. After 3 listens I can say I definitely like it more than UFOF. I definitely go back to it quite a bit but it just never really fully hooked me. This did instantly.

Yeah, this is incredible. It's at least as good as UFOF.

 

That live version is insannnnne. An absolute masterclass of a performance.

And holy shit major Fleetwood Mac energy all around. Is Buck Meek Lindsey Buckingham? Is James Krivchenia Mick Fleetwood? Max Oleartchik is even giving some understated John McVie vibes. Adrianne has that mystic energy (a different kind, but it’s a similar anchoring force) of Stevie Nicks.

 

The title track is just astounding.

 

The most exciting part is that you can hear them ripping at the seams sometimes. This band has the ability to go in so many directions. Adrianne’s growl has only been hinted at (to great effect), can’t even imagine a full album of rippers like “Not”.

 

Dammmnnnn I forgot how good that solo in Not is.

 

"Not" is such an incredible song. It's like they took a fire and made it into song. It's like the sound of kindling going out of control and just growing. Plus it's basically a zen koan.

 

The beginning of "Forgotten Eyes" reminds me of "Your Love" by The Outfield lol

 

"Shoulders" into "Not" is just fucking stupid good WTF
