love the acoustic songs as much as anyone but whichever recording session produced "Time Escaping" and "Little Things" is already among the best of all time. more like this please

Capacity is probably where I’d recommend someone to start. Masterpiece is a little more “rock” and less representative of where theyd take their sound. UFOF is my favorite, but it’s much more dreamy and ambient than the others. Two Hands is also more of a “rock” album but kind of exists at the other end of the spectrum they established with UFOF, so it feels more current with where they are as a band.

  17. There's something for everyone in their catalog, don't give up til you've found your entry point

I liked Capacity fine when it came out but UFOF was when I had my "oh shit" moment with them

They don't have that many albums I'd just go in order, nice to see their progression

  19. Not to rev up the hype machine TOO much but I really don't see how this won't be my favorite album of theirs when it comes out...at a bare minimum 5-6 of my 10 favorite Big Thief songs right now are on it

I mean we already know the first 7 songs are straight bangers.

and the other 7-8 we’ve heard are also bangers. But after “Time Escaping” I’m not sure how any of them will sound on record….which again, what a band.

Some songs were (eg Sparrow, Certainty, Change) but not the entire album.

Here are the track lengths from bandcamp

1:20:13 total. 5 songs per LP side. Just a few seconds too long for a single CD but I haven't seen any mention of it being two CDs so I'm guessing they're going to squeeze it onto one

Show was great last night. I actually showed up a little late by accident. Her website listed the show at 9, and the venue listed it at 8. Since I have kids I wasn’t in a huge hurry to catch what I assumed would be the opening act (and I forget who the act was, but they are currently sick so didn’t play last night). I showed up around 8:25 and Adrianne was about 3 songs into her set. I was bummed as she was about halfway through “indygar”. But once I took a seat and “Simulation Swarm” started I forgot all about that lol.

she’s so gracious and funny, she forgot the words at one point to “UFOF”, I think because a lyric about jumping into the water startled her as she mentioned, when she stopped the song, that she had jumped into a cold pond that morning. The crowd helped her out with the lyrics and she continued.

she played “once a buncha times” which she did mention was a “new one”. Some other highlights were “Indiana” (of course), “Spud Infinity” and “anything”.

She played “Dragon New Warm Mountain” and when she finished she mentioned there were “a lot of versions at the moment”, which makes me wonder if the studio version will be drastically different from the live full band version. Her solo version was another reminder howdifferent these songs are depending on the setting.

I had kind of forgotten this has been the first real opportunity she’s had to play her solo stuff from songs.

also: merch was a little light. Maybe 3 shirts and all her solo work on CD and vinyl. There’s also a puzzle of the songs artwork. I was hoping to grab a tape of songs/instrumentals but no luck.

    great stuff.
