Luckily got put onto them early, “Not” was the “best American band” moment but they had me as a fan at “years….days….makes no difference to me babe”. That opening line of “Masterpiece” is still stuck in my head.

    never looked back.

I need a Big Thief “Muzzle of Bees” cover, they could make this one their own for sure. It’s got finger picking, a pinch of alt country, some of that messy Wilco noise rock space both bands thrive in.

Muzzle of Bees would be the perfect Wilco song for them. Though there are a handful of moments throughout that remind me of some of the better later Wilco songs - Solitaire and Rising Red Lung in particular both feel pretty disc 2 here.

In hindsight I regret skipping Capacity at the time because when I went back it was easily my favorite (til this one) and these two songs would have hooked me instantly.

    Got a light?

I went on Omegle last night (it isn’t very cool but met some cool people). anyway, I kept getting skipped so every time I got someone new I sang “what’s it gonna takeeee” in my best Adrianne impression and the results were quite entertaining

Apparently “Certainty” is the only song people want to cover

Certainty feels like a songwriter's song, I'd love to hear covers of anything on here but also I get it.

Also I can confirm that the black vinyl sounds far quieter and superior to the eco mix. Still some pops but it’s much better. No noticeable clipping or static

Mysterious production of eggs and armchair apocrypha are about as good as the whole string heavy 2000s indie thing got

but of course we’ve got some forthcoming threads to get to that

This isn't a 1:1 comparison but if you are looking for anything similar-ish to Big Thief, you should check out Faye Webster, especially her record I Know I'm Funny haha from last year. She does that country infused folk music really well like Big Thief.

Just looked and I had an album from Twain in my Apple Music library from a couple years ago and just never got around to it. Will need to listen now.

  20. What song from this record are you most excited to potentially hear live

  21. title track, Promise is a Pendulum, basically any of the singles

I'm not bothering memorising lyrics or diving properly into the back catalogue, just want to experience this band as a recent convert on Saturday

Been really loving spending time with the second disc. Songs like “12,000 Lines” and “Love Love Love” really growing on me.
