I thought this more about "My City" EDIT: I meant to say "My City" has some "Ahead of the Curve" vibes.

    *rolls up sleeves*

I agree. This feels way more cohesive than Monsters of Folk for a (relevant) example.

I thought the same thing about this in relation to Monsters of Folk. I recall the MoF album distinctly sounding like three different songwriters broke up songwriting duties and each took lead on 'their' songs. I still really enjoyed it because I am a fan of all three of them and Mike Mogis, but it didn't feel to me at all like it blended into its own thing.

There’s really only 2 new tracks. One has been floating around YouTube but I’m glad a good quality is out!

Service Road is one of the best songs he’s ever written and that’s REALLY saying something

    RIP Supporter

When I listened last night it was on my AirPods which are not the worst but obv not the best and then today I was driving a box truck for work literally all day long and that had an auxiliary port at least but absolute garbage speakers.

Finally got to listen in my car just now and fuck. Hearing all the little nuances and intricacies makes it like 100 times better which I didn’t think was possible lol.

    I do not exist.

I have only listened twice but I thought it was good. Phoebe's voice is obviously the highlight. Never really listened to Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst and I understand he's a well respected and much loved figure but I'm more drawn to Phoebe as a vocalist.

So this is a band apparently. I got a brochure and thought I was being invited into a nice new cult

Am I the only one who is super bothered by the clicking sound on the right guitar/channel in "My City"? You can hear every single strum of the guitar, and it really ruins the song for me.

This review articulates the point about the loose concept of this release better than I could. It's this loose concept that made me draw parallels to Arctic Monkey's last album like someone was saying earlier in here.

Had a listen to this on the drive to work this morning and was really taken with it. I've tried many times with Bright Eyes and never really connected, but this might do the trick. Likewise I didn't give Stranger in the Alps the attention it deserved.

I have only ordered one record off of it before - something by Sufjan Stevens - but did not experience any issues.

They are part of Alliance Entertainment, which is just a huge wholesale distributor based in Kentucky, responsible for almost 50% of the vinyl market in the US, that also operates under the names importCDs, Collectors Choice vinyl, and many more. So 100% legit.

Not sure if they would be able to keep track of how many orange copies they would get vs how many got ordered through one of their dozen different websites though.
